Exercise 1
  • Write down at least TWO ways in which you waste
    your time
  • Now, write down at least TWO ways in which you
    manage your time well
  • Working in pairs, identify time wasting strategies

  • Imagine weekly timetable is for Week 4 (next
    week)
  • Fill in hours that are already committed
  • Lectures, labs, eating/travelling/leisure time,
    family commitments, etc

  • for future revision of a lecture or course
  • for later reference

  • Concentrate on active listening
  • Focus on key ideas concepts
  • Look for structure of lecture
  • Use a method of taking notes that suits you
  • Return to your notes soon after lecture

  • Read notes within 24 hrs of taking them
  • Expand points will help recall, reinforce
    info in your mind, as well as checking accuracy
  • File notes in logical order, keep them well
    organized
  • When taking notes from books
  • - SUMMARISE, dont copy
