Advantages of Ge-ATR-Imaging 1) Due to the high
refractive index of Ge (n4) and the
magnification (20x) the spatial resolution is
improved by the factor of 5.3 ! 2) One single
FPA-Detector-element corresponds to 0.8 x 0.8 µm2
measurement area on the sample! 3) The
penetration dephth is about 1-2 µm. Because of
this there is no overlap with the surrounding
material!

Although the configuration of the 36x objective
in combination with a 15x condenser is not
optimal the spatial resolution could be improved
significantly and the small structures on the
grid (1-2µm) could be clearly enhanced.
