Ethnocentrism
  • The belief in the inherent superiority of one's

  • In 1603 Champlain establishes the first French
    Colony in North America Port Royal
  • He also establishes a settlement further up the
    St. Lawrence at Quebec, where Stadacona once stood

  • It is believed smallpox may have devastated the
    people there.

  • Known as the Father of New France
  • Champlain called the aboriginal people savages.
