Dan Gable began wrestling in junior high school.
He attended West High School in Iowa. He was a
three time state champion in high school. His
high school career was flawless, not one loss.
After graduation, he moved on to Iowa State where
he won two national titles. He lost in the
finals of the national tournament his senior
year. This was Dan Gables only loss in his
college and high school career. He finished his
high school and college wrestling career with a
record of 182-1.
4After his magnificent high school and college
career, Dan Gable set his eyes on Olympic Gold.
He qualified for the Olympic team in 1972. The
games were held in Munich. Going into the
Olympics many people set a goal to defeat Gable.
The Soviets were really out to beat him. As you
can see

by the picture they were not able to stop him.
Dan Gable dominated his opponents in the
Olympics. He kept them from scoring a point on
him. The only point scored on Gable was in the
Olympic qualification match. Larry Owings, the
only man to defeat Gable, scored one point in the
qualification match. Dan Gables performance at
the Olympics is legendary.

the wrestling room. He is one of the most
competitive people of all time. He is still
involved with the sport of wrestling today,
mostly as a TV analyst and commentator.
