• It was commissioned by Napoleon Bonaparte.
• Built as tribute to French army victories.
• Designed by Jean Chalgrin in 1860.
• Built in 1836.

• At the western end of the Champs Elysees.
• It is situated in place Charles de Gaulle.
• It is the worlds famous Triomphe arch.
• It is over 51 metres high.

• 12 roads radiate from it in a star shape.
• There are 284 steps to the top.
• The top of the arch gives one of the best views
  over Paris.
