Scope of practice Home delivery
  • Recognize malpresentation and refer immediately
  • Use partograph and recognize prolonged or
    obstructed labor and refer immediately
  • Recognize severe PIH/impending eclampsia and
    refer immediately
  • Active management of 3rd stage of labor for all
    deliveries (10 units oxytocin by IM route)

Scope of practice Home delivery
  • Manual check removal of placenta if separated
    (CCT) and refer or perform MRP under sedation
  • IV infusion of oxytocics in case of PPH (with or
    without retained placenta)
  • Recognize perineal and cervical tears and repair
    them or refer
  • Recognize uterine rupture and evacuate
    immediately
  • Start IV fluids, IV antibiotics and
    anti-convulsants where needed
  • Basic neonatal resuscitation

  • Manage eclampsia
  • Perform assisted vaginal delivery
  • Prepare for C/section

    with emergency drugs and kits
