One capsule of ferro sanol duodenal contains
567.7mg of a complex compound of ferrous sulfate
with the amino acid glycine. The total amount of
iron in one capsule is equivalent to 100 mg of
Fe(II). The whole content of the capsule is
present in the form of 300 to 400 enteric-coated
pellets.
The hard-gelatine capsule dissolves rapidly and
releases the pellets into the stomach, where they
are distributed but not dissolved as their coat
resist the acidic environment of the stomach.
The pellets are then transported inportions into
the duodenum. The pellets dissolve there within
minutes so as to release thedivalent iron at
the optimum site of absorption (quick
duodenal-release).
