Famous Midnight Ride

• Occurred at 10 pm on the night of April 18, 1775
• Rode to Lexington, Massachusetts, to warn Samuel
  Adams and John Hancock that British troops were
  marching to arrest them

• A signal had to be given to indicate whether the
  British were coming by land or by sea
• 2 lit lanterns indicates that the British were
  coming by sea 1 lit lantern would mean by land
• One lantern was lit indicating that the British
  were coming by land
