  • Designing nameplates that make a splash

Definition and Job
  • The banner on the front of a newsletter or other
    periodical that identifies the publication is its
    nameplate. The nameplate usually contains the
    name of the newsletter, possibly graphics or a
    logo, and perhaps a subtitle, motto, and
    publication information.
  • The nameplate is the portion of your first page
    that identifies your newspaper. It sets the tone
    of your publication and differentiates it from
    other newspapers. It typically appears in the top
    3 1/2 inches of the first page.
