Stents
  • Coronary stents have
  • revolutionized the field
  • of coronary angioplasty
  • due to their ability to
  • prevent abrupt closure of
  • the artery after
  • angioplasty and also by
  • reducing restenosis

SUMMARY
  • Patients who undergo stenting in small coronary
vessels have similar short-term outcome as
patients who have stenting in large vessels
  • Small vessel stenting is associated with a higher
restenosis rate compared to stenting in larger
    vessels

26
SUMMARY
  • The achievement of a larger final CSA inside the
stent is a major variable associated with a lower
restenosis rate in both small and large vessels
  • Slotted tubular stents perform better in larger
    vessels compared to coil stents
  • Both stents perform suboptimally in preventing
    restenosis in small vessels
