Introduction
  • Definitions of livability include an array of
    different issues that are underpinned by a common
    set of guiding principles accessibility, equity,
    and participation that give substance to the
    concepts of livability. The quality of life
    experienced by citizens living in a city is tied
    to their ability to access infrastructure food
    clean air affordable housing meaningful
    employment and green space and parks.

    as experienced by the residents within a city or
    region. In this context sustainability is the
    ability to sustain the quality of life we value
    or to which we aspire. In operational terms it is
    often viewed as enhancing the economic, social,
