  • Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann, the founder
    of homoeopathy, was born in Meissen, Saxony in
    Germany on 10th April 1755 .
  • Fathers name is Christian gottfried,
  • Mothers name Johanna christian hahnemann.

Controversy on Birth date
  • Birthday has some confusion, records in church
    shows on 11th april because Birth time is closer
    to midnight.
  • But Hahnemann celebrates his birthday on april
    10th in whole life.

  • Hahnemann had his preliminary education up to
    16years of age in Town school.
  • At the age of 16ys he joined princes grammer
    school
  • Rector muller who helped Hahnemann a lot during
    his childhood studies.
  • A troublesome youth days was for Hahnemann as he
    was to work for his daily maintenance and his
    education.

  • Hahnemann left princes school at easter in 1775
    with a dissertation in Latin on the Wonderful
    construction of Human Hand

Medical studies
  • In 1775 Hahnemann joined liepsic university for
    his medical studies, at the time he left to
    liepsic with only 20thallers, due to financial
    difficulties he gave private lectures to rich
    Greek students and translated English works to
    German language.

  • Under the guidence of Holfrath schreber, he
    submitted his dissertation on the theme
  • A consideration of the eotiology and
    therapeutics of spasmodic affection
  • On 10th August 1779 he was awarded with his
    medical degree.

First Practice
  • Hahnemann started his medical carrier in the
    small town of Hettstedt in the country of
    Mansfield,in 1780.
  • Due to poor earnings and less chance of
    intellectual development Hahnemann shifted to
    Dessau in 1781,
  • At the end of 1781 Hahnemann accepted the post of
    medical officer in Gommern.

  • Then he moved to Dresden where he engaged more in
    literary works and translations than medical
    practice.
  • In the last days of 1789 he moved to Leipsic,
  • In 1790 when he was translating Cullens materia
    medica,he find explination about Cinchona in
    treating Malaria.

  • Then Hahnemann was not satisfied with that
    explanation, did experiment with Cinchona on
    himself then got malaria like symptoms, then
    Hahnemann observes pathogentic power of drug is
    curative power of drug, then he spent 6ys for
    experimentations then finally invents Similia
    Similibus Curenter

  • In 1792 he moved to Georgenthal where he treated
    the famous mental patient Klockenbring.
  • In 1796 he published A Essay on New principle of
    ascertaining the curative properties of drugs
  • that was the birth year of Homoeopathy
  • This was published in Hufland Journals

  • In 1801 Hahnemann lived in Marchern then to
    Elinburg.
  • In 1803 again shifted to Dessau.
  • Then he settled in Torgau in 1805,
  • Then he moved to Leipsic (1811-20)

  • On August 10th 1829 celebrated Hahnemanns silver
    jubilee of Doctorate.
  • A society of Homoeopathic Physician was also
    formed in this occasion.

    1821-1835 and settled in Paris in his last days
    with his new wife from 1835-1843.

Death of Hahnemann
  • On 2nd july 1843 at 5 o clock in morning Samuel
    Hahnemann died in his house at the age of 88,due
    to Bronchial catarrh, after 9days ie on 11th july
    1843 the body was buried in Mountmartre
    cemetery.
  • On 24th may 1898 Exhumation of the body of
    Hahnemann has done and it was transferred to a
    better cemetery Pere lachaise in
    Paris.

Expert in Langauges
  • He became proficient at languages and even by the
    age of twelve was sufficiently accomplished in
    Greek and Latin that he was given the task of
    tutoring other children in these. 
  • His linguistic repertoire expanded through his
    adolescence so that by the age of twenty he had
    mastered English, French, Italian, Latin and
    Greek, and was able to make a living at the
    University of Leipzig as a translator and teacher
    in languages. 
  • He subsequently added to these, Arabic, Syriac,
    Chaldaic and Hebrew.
