Habitat

• North America
• temperatures 75-82 degrees Celsuis(day) 65-72
  degrees Celsuis night
• Southern and southeastern parts of US
• nocturnal and secretive

• great climbers
• wooden groves and meadows, wooded rock hillsides,
  along waterways, wooded lots, barn yards,
  abandoned houses
• distrubed, vibrate tail and strike repeatedly

Feeding

• Like constrictors
• do not eat everyday and go days or weeks without
  eating
• overpower prey by biting for a firm grip

• wrap coils around prey to squeeze and suffocating
  prey
• swallows whole prey usually head first

Reproduction/Breeding

• Oviparous
• breeding cycle that is affected by temperature
• breeding season is from March to May
• breed once per annummaturity
• successful breedfirst hibernation shed-female

• Male crawl over female jerking movement
• lasts several minutes or hours
