Lobe Pump Overview

• Lobe pumps are used in a variety of industries
  such as pulp and paper, chemical, food, beverage,
  etc
• These pumps offer superb sanitary qualities, high
  efficiency, reliability and corrosion resistance

How Lobe Pumps Work Step 1

• Initially, the lobes create an expand in volume
  on the inlet side of the pump
• Liquid flows into the cavity and is trapped by
  the lobes as they rotate

• Liquid travels around the interior casing
  (between the lobes and the casing)
• It does not pass between the lobes

• Finally, the lobes forces the liquid under
  pressure through the outlet

Advantages

• Can pass medium solids
• There is no metal-to-metal contact between the
  lobes
• Superior CIP (Cleaning-in-Place)/SIP
  (Steaming-in-Place) capabilities
• Positive suction
• Non-pulsating discharge.

Disadvantages

• Needs timing gears
• Needs two seals
