15
Our Brief History
  • We started operations in 1999. We started with
trading of chemicals both commodity chemicals
as well as specialty chemicals to pharma
    companies and cosmetic companies.
  • We soon realized that selling commodities and
selling specialty ingredients are two entirely
    different things. Commodity chemicals being
commodities are basically price driven, you
usually meet purchase people and the decisions
are based on price haggling. In sharp contrast,
when you sell specialty chemicals, technical
    negotiations precede commercial negotiations and
it is primarily the technical people who make the
    basic decision.

16
..Contd.
  • Since the company was started by a technocrat
having a masters degree in chemistry and the
other partner had an MBA in international
business we did not relish being in commodity
business. We took a hard decision and decided to
    focus only on specialty chemicals.
  • In 2002 came the time for a second hard decision,
this time a harder one. The question was
should we be catering to both pharma companies
and cosmetic companies? Should we not focus only
on one of these segments? We decided that we
should focus only on cosmetic and personal care.
  • Since then our 100 focus is on cosmetics and
personal care industry and we sell only specialty
chemicals, we look for innovative, research based
products from around the world and we present
them to our customers. We work as a bridge
    between manufacturers of finest specialty
chemicals for the cosmetic industry and cosmetic
    manufacturers in India.
