• Do I have freewill?
• Free from what?
• Free from matter and mind
• Freewill cannot be a part or product or property
  of the body or mind

• How free am I?
• Perception No freedomCannot see a blue object

• Action Partial freedomCannot fly but can walk.
• Attitude Complete freedomTotal freedom and
  responsibility over desire, anger, jealousy,
  happiness, sorrow, etc.

Who am I?

• The person who has freewill.
• I am not the body, intellect, memory, etc.
• I am not a part or product or property of any of
  them.
• Body and mind are my instruments.
• I am the entity who decides and is responsible
  for the decision.
• I am a Jiva.

The Law

• Basic law of Physics
• Cause and effect
• Also called law of conservation
• For any part of the system, the input and output
  should balance over a long time
• Same law applies to me too
• As I sow, so shall I reap.
• I only get what I deserve.
• I am responsible for my decisions.

• Differences in birth have to be explained.
• Actions done just before death need to be taken
  into account.
• Pre-birth existence and post-death existence are
  the only possibility.
• Concept of rebirth is the most logical solution.

Principle of Cause and Effect

• As I sow, so shall I reap.
• I only get what I deserve.
• Nothing comes for free.
• I am the maker of my own destiny.
• What I am now and what I face now are the results
  of my own past actions.
• What I will be and what I will face in future
  will the results of my present and past actions.

Action and Results

• Every action creates these effects
• External tangible result (phala)
• Potential to affect a future result (karma)
• Internal tendency (samskaara)
