The sub-unit responsible for compilation of
food balances (FB) in RA
  • Food security statistics division of the NSS RA
    is responsible authority in the Republic of
    Armenia for compilation of food balances
    (starting from producers to consumers)

Structure of food balances
  • The list of 14 commodities for composing of
    food balance sheets based on principle of
    registration of most widely consumed products
    according to the data of Integrated Living
    Conditions Survey of households. Particularly,
    the mentioned foodstuffs comprise more than 80
    of the total volume of used food energy.

Conversion of processed goods to the
equivalent of primary goods
  • Wheat includes data on wheat, flour , macaroni,
    ethyl alcohol, bread and other bakery goods,
    which are conditionally transformed into wheat.
  • Vegetables include data on fresh, dry, frozen and
    canned vegetables (cabbage of all types,
    cucumber, tomatoes, beet, bulb onion, garlic
    etc.)
  • Fruits include data on fresh, dry, frozen and
    canned fruit (drupaceous, stone-fruit,
    subtropical, tropical etc)
  • Leguminous crops include data on beans, lentils
    and other beans.
  • Eggs include data on eggs in shells, as well as
    egg powder.  
  • Milk includes data on fresh milk, milk powder,
    matsun, sour cream, cottage cheese, cheese and
    other milk products.
  • Beef, Pork, Mutton and Goat meat, Poultry include
    data on slaughter weight, as well as sausages,
    canned eat and other meat products conditionally
    transformed into meat in slaughter weight.
  • Grape includes data on grapes, as well raisins .

Sheets 
  • Production volume official data from NSS RA,
  • Import and export volumes data from Customs
    Service of State Revenue Committee of RA,
  • Food Consumption data of Integrated Living
    Conditions Survey of households carried out by
    NSS RA,
  • Feed data from Ministry of Agriculture of RA
    and data derived by interweaving of food
    producers,
  • Waste data from Ministry of Agriculture of
    RA,
  • Seeds (including eggs for incubation) data
    from Ministry of Agriculture of RA,
  • Closing Stocks data of sample survey on
    agriculture carried out by the NSS RA and data
    from the organizations dealing with import of
    food.
