Habit 1- Be Proactive
  • Take responsibility.
  • When a stimulus occurs, we have the ability to
    control our response.
  • Be cautious of complaining, comparing, and
    competing.

3
Habit 2- Begin With the End in Mind
  • Create a personal mission statement.
  • This is a process that can be very powerful.
  • Vision of the future is greater than the past.
  • What is important to you?

4
Habit 3- Put First Things First
  • Keep the main thing, the main thing.
  • Focus on relationships over schedules.
  • List your priorities, then organize them.
  • Place big rocks in the bucket first, then add in
    small rocks.

5
Habit 4- Think Win-Win
  • Win-win is about mutual benefit.
  • If you notice win-lose is about to happen, seek
    first to understand.
  • Win-lose occurs when the emotional bank account
    has been violated.
  • Have clear expectations of the desired result.

6
Habit 5- Seek First to Understand then to be
Understood
  • Focus on the sequence, most people do the
    opposite.
  • Improve listening skills.
  • Picture yourself in their shoes.
  • Change your frame of mind.
  • Not about efficiency, but about building
    relationships.

7
Habit 6- Synergize
  • The whole is greater than the parts.
  • Think with the idea of win-win.
  • Talk through ideas.
  • Can be taxing on people.

8
Habit 7- Sharpen the Saw
  • Stop and refocus.
  • Renew yourself within the other six habits.
  • Establish traditions within your family.
  • Find an outlet to relax and rejuvenate exercise,
    reading, etc.
