Ancient and Imperial China
  • China has a history of over 5000 years which
    consisted of at least 83 dynasties and 559
    emperors.
  • The Shang Dynasty (1766 BC) was the first
    verifiable dynasty and ruled China for 600 years.
  • During 2000 years of the Ancient and Imperial
    Chinese history there were many discoveries that
    we use everyday such as astronomy, mathematics,
    engineering and medicine.
  • They were the first people to use paper and had
    invented printing
  • Between 1839 and 1842 the British fought an
    "Opium War" against China to force the Chinese to
    keep buying the drug opium from British India. As
    a result Hong Kong was signed over to Britain.

  • In 1949 the Peoples Republic of China was
    formed.
  • It established Mao as the paramount leader of the
    Chinese Communist movement.
  • The new government started to fix problems like
    Inflation and low production.
  • Mao declared that China is against capitalism and
    democracy.

  • In 1950, Pakistan became the first Muslim country
    and the 3rd non-communist country to recognize
    China
  • During the China-Korea War Pakistan accused Korea
  • As a result, in 1951 Beijing and at the time
    Karachi established diplomatic relations.
  • The meeting b/w the Prime Minister of China and
    Pakistan paved the way for strong friendship.
  • In the years to come our good neighborly
    relation will be further promoted and our
    cultural and economical intercourse will become
    more and more frequent (Chou En Lai on the
    Independence Day of Pakistan, 1956)

  • China is the main provider of technical, economic
    and military assistance to Pakistan

    nuclear Co-operation Agreement
  • 1999 - A 300-megawatt nuclear power plant
    (Chashma 1),
  • 2002 - Chinese Vice Premier Wu Bangguo attends
    ground-breaking ceremony for Pakistan's Gwadar
    deep-sea port. China provides 198 million for
    248 million joint project.
  • Makran coastal highway by mekran construction
    company (450 Chinese 512 Pakistanis)
  • 2003 - Pakistan and China signed a 110 million
    contract for the construction of a housing
    project on Multan Road in Lahore

  • 2006 free trade agreement
  • Trade between Islamabad and Beijing now hovered
    around 7 billion last year, and both sides are
    set on raising the figure to 15 billion by 2010.

  • 2008 China vows to help Pakistan in civil nuclear
    technology by building and helping in the Khusab
    Nuclear Programme providing technology to
    Pakistan for better maintenance of civil nuclear
    plants.
  • 2008 Pakistan and China to build first ever train
    route through the Karakoram Highway, ultimately
    linking China's rail route-net to Gwadar Port.

  • Missile Pakistan's army has both short- and
    medium-range ballistic missiles, such as the
    Shaheen missile series, that experts say are
    modifications of Chinese imports. 
  • Aircraft The current fleet of the Pakistani Air
    Force includes Chinese interceptor and advanced
    trainer aircraft, as well as an Airborne Early
    Warning and Control radar system used to detect
    aircraft. Pakistan is producing the JF-17 Thunder
    multi-role combat aircraft jointly with China.
    The K-8 Karakorum light attack aircraft was also
    co produced.
  • Nuclear Program China supplies Pakistan with
    nuclear technology and assistance, including what
    experts suspect was the blueprint for Pakistan's
    nuclear bomb
