HELP IN OVERCOMING SIN
2
HELP IN OVERCOMING SIN
  1. PRAYER

3
PRAYER
  • It is through prayer that we petition God.
  • And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver
us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom
and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
    (Matt. 613)

4
PRAYER
  • It is through prayer that we receive strength.
  • Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that
you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and
having done all, to stand. Stand therefore,
having girded your waist with truth, having put
on the breastplate of righteousness, and having
shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel
of peace above all, taking the shield of faith
with which you will be able to quench all the
fiery darts of the wicked one.

5
PRAYER
  • It is through prayer that we receive strength.
  • And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword
of the Spirit, which is the word of God praying
always with all prayer and supplication in the
Spirit, being watchful to this end with all
perseverance and supplication for all the saints--

6
PRAYER
  • It is through prayer that we receive strength.
  • and for me, that utterance may be given to me,
that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the
mystery of the gospel, for which I am an
ambassador in chains that in it I may speak
boldly, as I ought to speak. (Eph. 613-19)

7
PRAYER
  • We should pray regularly and frequently.
  • pray without ceasing (1 Thess. 517)
  • Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always
ought to pray and not lose heart (Luke 181)

  1. PRAYER
  2. THE BIBLE

10
THE BIBLE
  • Your testimonies I have taken as a heritage
forever, For they are the rejoicing of my heart.
    (Psalm 11911)
  • My little children, these things I write to you,
so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we
have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ
    the righteous. (1 John 21)
  • Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for
His seed remains in him and he cannot sin,
because he has been born of God. (1 John 39)

11
(1 John 39)
  • Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin for
his seed remaineth in him and he cannot sin,
because he is born of God. (KJV)
  • Whosoever is begotten of God doeth no sin,
because his seed abideth in him and he cannot
sin, because he is begotten of God. (ASV)
  • No one who is born of God practices sin, because
His seed abides in him and he cannot sin,
because he is born of God. (NASB)

12
THE BIBLE
  • Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the
wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And when
He had fasted forty days and forty nights,
afterward He was hungry. Now when the tempter
came to Him, he said, If You are the Son of God,
command that these stones become bread.
  • But He answered and said, It is written, Man
shall not live by bread alone, but by every word
that proceeds from the mouth of God.

13
THE BIBLE
  • Then the devil took Him up into the holy city,
set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said
to Him, If You are the Son of God, throw
Yourself down. For it is written He shall give
His angels charge over you, and, In their hands
they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot
    against a stone.
  • Jesus said to him, It is written again, You
shall not tempt the Lord your God.

14
THE BIBLE
  • Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly
high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of
the world and their glory. And he said to Him,
All these things I will give You if You will
    fall down and worship me.
  • Then Jesus said to him, Away with you, Satan!
For it is written, You shall worship the Lord
your God, and Him only you shall serve.
  • Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came
and ministered to Him. (Matt. 41-11)

15
THE BIBLE
  • Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel
    of the ungodly,
  • Nor stands in the path of sinners,
  • Nor sits in the seat of the scornful
  • But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
  • And in His law he meditates day and night. (Psalm
    11-2)

16
THE BIBLE
  • He shall be like a tree
  • Planted by the rivers of water,
  • That brings forth its fruit in its season,
  • Whose leaf also shall not wither
  • And whatever he does shall prosper. (Psalm 13)
