Chapters 1 and 2

• Chapter 1 and 2 is about a girl named Sal.
  Her mom left her and her dad and they didnt know
  why. They were hoping shed come back but she
  never did. They decided to move to Euclid. When
  they got to Euclid they went to Margarets house.
  Margaret was Sals dads girlfriends house
  Margaret. Sal went to go see her mom with her
  Grandma and Grandpa.

Chapters 3 and 4

• Sal started to tell a story. She decided to
  tell about Margaret and her elderly mother. Soon
  Sal started school. There was a girl Phoebe who
  invited Sal to her house for supper. On the way
  to her house Mrs. Partridge had called them over
  and she started feeling her face. Mrs. Partridge
  is blind. Phoebe thinks Mrs. Cadaver is weird and
  scares her for life.

Chapters 5 and 6

• While Phoebe was walking Sal home from supper
  she said that she thinks that Mrs.Cadaver killed
  Mr.Cadaver and chopped him up and buried him in
  the back yard. Then Sal started thinking about
  her mother and how much she missed her.

Chapters 7 and 8

• Then one day when Sal was at Phoebes house
  Mary Lou Finney called and invited them them over
  to her house, but before they left a stranger
  came to Phoebes house while her mom wasnt home.

Chapters 9 and 10

• When they got to Marys house they were in
  her room telling Mary about the lunatic that came
  to Phoebes house. Bob kissed Sal on the
  collarbone. When Phoebe and Sal went back to
  Phoebes house there was a note that said Dont
  judge a man until youve walked two moons in his
  moccasins.

Chapters 11 and 12

• Then when Sal and Phoebe were going too Marys
  house again on the front steps there was another
  note that said Everyone has their own agenda.
  When they got to Marys they decided to go to the
  drugstore. While they were there they saw the
  lunatic.

Chapters 13 and 14

• Margaret gave Sal a present. It was a sweater.
  She told her father she didnt like it. Her kept
  telling her he had to tell her something about
  Margaret but she didnt want to know.

Chapters 15 and 16

• Gramps stopped at a river and they all jumped
  in and swam. While they were in the river a boy
  came. Then a snake went in the river and bit
  Grams.The boy was sucking and spitting out the
  blood. They took her to the hospital. They spent
  the night , the boy did to. Before the boy left
  in the morning he gave Sal his address and his
  name in case she wanted to write to him.

Chapters 17 and 18

• When Phoebe and her sister came home from
  school they found another note that said In a
  course of a lifetime what does it matter. Phoebe
  said Sal should mention the thing about Mrs.
  Cadaver but she didnt because she wanted to wait
  for the right time.

Chapters 19 and 20

• When Sal and Phoebe were walking home from
  school they saw the lunatic coming at them. He
  stopped right in front of them. Phoebe saw him
  reach into his pocket, so she pushed him away and
  they started running for Phoebes house. When
  they got their the door was locked. Finally her
  mom came to the door. She looked pale and
  shaken. Phoebes mother left them. Phoebe thinks
  her mother was kidnapped.

• The next Phoebe arrived at school with another
  message that said We never know the worth of
  water until the well is dry. After school Sal and
  Phoebe went to the police station again. Sal saw
  the photographs on Sergeant Bickles desk. One
  was of the lunatic. At school the next day Mr.
  Birckway read Phoebes journal and it said stuff
  about Mrs. Cadaver being a murderer.

Chapters 33 and 34

• Sal went over to Phoebes house to tell her two
  important things. Then the doorbell rang. It was
  Mr. Birckway. He told Phoebe that he was sorry
  for reading it and that Mr. Cadaver was killed in
  an car accident. And that Mrs. Cadaver is not a
  murderer and she did not burry him in her back
  yard.
