- CONDUCT A ROUTE RECON (5-4-0401)
4CONDITION
- THE SQUAD/SECTION IS TASKED TO PERFORM A ROUTE
RECONNAISSANCE OVER A SPECIFIED ROUTE. THE AREA
IS SECURE BUT ENEMY CONTACT WITH SQUAD-SIZE OR
SMALLER ELEMENTS IS POSSIBLE. SOME ITERATIONS
SHOULD NOT BE DONE IN MOPP-4
5STANDARDS
- THE SQUAD/SECTION USE THE CORRECT SYMBOLS TO
PREPARE AND SUBMIT AN OVERLAY IDENTIFYING ALL
OBSTACLES, OBSTRUCTIONS, TERRAING FEATURES,
CRITICAL MEASURMENTS, DIMENSIONS AND
CLASSIFICATIONS ARE ACCURATE WITHIN PLUS OR MINUS
10 PERCENT. THE SQUAD COMPLETES THE ECONNAISSANCE
NLT THE TIME SPECIFIED IN THE OPORD
6TASK STEPS AND STANDARDS
- THE SQUAD LEADER PLANS THE ROUTE RECON
- a) PERFORMS A MAP ORIENTATION TO ID THE
- ROUTE AND START/STOP POINTS
- b) ESTABLISHES THE RECON OBJECTIVES
- (OBSTACLE LOCATION, TRAFFICABILITY
- AND WATER POINTS).
- c) REQUESTS A SECURITY TEAM TO SUPPORT
- THE RECON IN THE EVENT OF ENEMY
CONTACT - (2 PERSONELL PER SQUAD)
- d) PLANS FOR A DOUBLE FLOW OF TRACKED
VEHICLES - (UNLESS OTHERWISE DIRECTED BY THE
COMMANDER). -

- THE LEADER PREPARES AN OVERLAY OF THE SPECIFIED
ROUTE - a) DRAWS THE ROUTE TO SCALE ON TH OVERLAY.
SHOWS THE - LIMIT OF SECTOR SYMBOLS (ONE EACH AT
THE START AND - END POINTS).
- b) PLOTS AT LEAST 2 GRID REFERENCE POINTS
AND A GRID OR - MAGNETIC NORTH ARROW.
- c) PREPARES THE TITLE BLCK. AS A MINIMUM,
INCLUDES NAME, - SSN, UNIT, MAP SHEET, SERIES, SCALE
AND ANY REMARKS
