Title: Immaculate Conception Church
1Immaculate Conception Church
- Religious Education
- Grades K-7
- Rev. Boguslaw Kobus, Pastor
- Director of Faith Formation Nadine Allen
2Program Philosophy
- We at Immaculate Conception believe that our
Religious Education Program is a continuing
journey of faith. It is one that begins in the
home and is reinforced by our weekly classes. One
of our main objectives is to teach the students
the basic principles of the Catholic faith,
however giving meaning to the rituals and symbols
of our faith is not enough. It is up to you, as
parents, to provide a daily commitment to God by
practicing the gift of faith and setting an
example for your children. Our efforts will not
be effective unless they are combined with your
efforts.
3Program Guidelines for Grades K-7
- Our Religious Education program begins in
Kindergarten and extends to the 7th grade. - The number of students in our Religious
Education Program increases each year. In order
to facilitate the growing number of students we
have instituted a two day Religious Education
program. - Kindergarten thru 4th grade
students meet on
Tuesdays from 345-445 Fifth
thru 7th grade students meet on
Wednesdays
from 345-445 PM. -
This allows for
smaller
classes - which promote a better atmosphere
for learning and teaching.
4Confirmation Program Guidelines
- Our Confirmation Program encompasses grades 8
thru 10. Confirmation classes meet every other
Sunday beginning with attendance at the 900 Mass
with class directly afterward until 1130AM. - Students are required to participate in
Stewardship Projects geared towards helping those
within our community. Notices will be sent home
regarding these projects. If a student cannot
fulfill a particular project as scheduled it is
their responsibility to schedule a substitute who
will switch project dates with them. The Office
of Religious Education will gladly assist in
helping to reschedule activities. - Independent
projects are welcome and - encouraged. Please
speak to the project - coordinator for
project approval.
5Registration
- All former students will be sent a registration
packet in the mail at the end of July or the
beginning of August. - Families must be registered members of Immaculate
Conception Parish in order for children to attend
our program. If you attend Mass at Immaculate
Conception Church and live in Franklin but are
not formally registered, you must register before
your child will be admitted to the program. - Registration can take place by phone, mail or by
stopping at the Rectory. - Parish registration forms can also be found at
the back of the Church. - If your child is new to the program, please
include a copy of his/her Baptismal Certificate
and a copy of their First Penance and First
Communion date (if applicable) when you return
the registration form and fee.
6Registration Fees
- Registration fees are as
- follows
- (65 for 1 child)
- (90 for 2 children)
- (115 for 3 or
- more children
-
- Our intention is not to place a burden on any
family, but these fees are necessary in order to
purchase books, supplies, and instructional
aides. - If there are circumstances which prevent you from
paying the fee, please call the Office of
Religious Education or Father Bogie. - All information will be kept strictly
confidential. - Children are never turned away due to inability
to pay.
7Discipline
- We expect respect and cooperation from every
student. Unruly behavior and disrespect for
teachers and other students will not be
tolerated. If a student is removed from the
classroom on a regular basis, parents will be
notified and - alternative arrangements for
- lessons will have to be made.
8Homework Policy
- Students in grades 1 thru 6 may be given student
journals along with their regular texts. The
journals usually serve as the homework
assignments each week. Please check to make sure
your child completes their assignments weekly. It
is important for students to keep up with work
that has been assigned. - The homework is short and should not take more
- than 15 minutes to complete. All
- homework serves to reinforce what
- has been taught in the classroom.
9Tests and Report Cards
- Teachers are expected to give intermittent
quizzes or tests - This will allow not only the teacher but
- you, as parents, to see how your
- child is progressing, if he or she is
- retaining what is being taught or if there
are areas in which your child
- Individual teachers may send progress notices
during the year and at the end of the year. - We ask that parents review the notices and
contact the teacher of Office of Religious
Education with any questions or concerns. - We ask that you get involved in your child's
course of study by helping them prepare for tests
and by reviewing the material being covered in
class each week.

11First Holy Communion
- The Sacrament of First Holy Communion is a two
year program at Immaculate Conception Church
spanning the 1st and 2nd grades. Communion is
celebrated in the month of May. There are usually
two Parent Meetings that are mandatory one for
the Sacrament of Reconciliation and the other for
the Sacrament of First Communion. These meetings
are important because they offer an explanation
of the parent's role in the preparation of the
children for the Sacraments. Workbooks for both
Sacraments are distributed at these meetings. A
list of important dates is sent home with the
second grade students in September. Older
children who have not received the Sacraments of
Penance and First Communion will be ministered to
on an individual basis. Please notify the Office
of Religious Education if your child is in grade
3 or above and has not received these Sacraments,
so that necessary arrangements can be made.
