4Tasks
- Choose a question that interests you and NOT one
that is easily answered within the text. - Use a spider chart to create at least five
questions youd really liked answered about
Ebola. - Establish one question from the five that you
will use for your projects focus. - NO ONE QUESTION SHOULD BE THE SAME.
- Determine from where and how you will get your
information that will answer you research
question. - Get the answer, if possible.
5Action-Research Journal
- Otherwise known as an I-Search because it is
about the search you are taking.
6Within this Action-Research Journal, you will
need to keep track of everything you do, think,
read and find. You will receive a folder to help
you organize your material. Include any material
which will be of use to you for your project.
7This part of the project is about uncovering
information.
- If this leads you to other questions, dont be
surprised. - This project is about the process and steps to
answering research questions. - ALL of this gathered documentation is part of
your projects grade.
8You will have three weeks to work on this project.
- WEEK 1
- Determine your research question.
- Begin gathering information relating to your
question. - Put all documentation in your action-research
journal.
- WEEK 2
- Build a solid foundation of information.
- Continue to search different avenues to find
answers. - Continue documentations.
- WEEK 3
- Put your projects in order and communicate
findings. - Develop/Edit/Finalize your research papers.
9Format of Final Draft
10- Your final draft should not be shorter than two
pages and no longer than five. - Papers should be fully typed in 12 font and
double-spaced. - You will need to use your best Standard Written
English and your work must be revised to final
draft form. - Two pictures relating to your topic should be
included and explained.(Pictures not included in
two page minimum.) Use the proper method of
documentation and include a Bibliography at the
end of your report. Use the MLA format of
documentation.
11GRADES
12Your grade will be based on the
thoroughness,thoughtfulness and effort that you
put into your project.
- ADisplays a detailed knowledge of subject.
Presents a clear and precise position, thesis or
focus. 2 pictures and 2 fully developed pages.
- BDisplays knowledge of subject. Presents a
recognizable position, thesis, or focus. Contains
ideas that are usually clear and fully developed.
- CDisplays some info. Of subject. Ignores
critical pieces. Presents a focus with
inconsistencies within shorter versions of
length. Contains some unimportant ideas/details.
- DMisinterprets info. About subject. Does not
have focus. Includes too little or off topic
details. Does not contain minimal lengths.
13There are two main portions that make up your
over-all grade.
- Action-Research Journal must be decorated on its
front cover and include all worksheets, notes,
print-outs along with other related material. - 50 of over-all grade
- Actual written response to posed question.
- 50 of over-all grade
14This is high level analysis, synthesis and
problem solving. You will be expected to read
deeply into your topic and use the internet to
find the most current information available. To
