Over the past years, Nour Communications has
entered into various contracts in major
telecommunications projects with well-known
industry players such as Lucent Technologies,
Ericsson, Motorola, Nokia, Harris Farinon, and
the Saudi Telecommunications Company
(STC). The general overview of the scopes of
work of these contracts and their brief
descriptions are presented hereon. This
manifestation fortifies NOUR Communications
position as an experienced and dependable
contracting company in telecommunications
industry for both commercial and government
endeavors. This string of projects is brought
about by the cohesive teamwork of Nours
innovative management and skilled work force as
its most important resources.

  • SOPHISTICATED TEST EQUIPMENTS
  • Nour Communications has always utilized the
    state-of-the-art tools and test equipments to
    ensure optimum system performance. From survey to
    integration, the wide range of equipments assists
    in improvement of work quality
  • Differential GPS Unit with accuracy of 3m
    horizontally and less than 1m vertically in
    resolution of coordinates and elevation.
  • SDH Analyzer Set for STM-1 systems.
  • c) 2 Mb/s BER Tester for E1 and T1 interface
    stability and performance assessment.

    Project managed by Lucent Technologies
    Norconsult was project consultant. Contracts
    for
  • 1. SITE SURVEY
  • Nour was the only survey contractor of Lucent on
    its Kingdom wide GSM 200K, 300K and 500K
    projects.
  • Total Number of Surveyed Sites in TEP6 1, 183
    Sites
  • Provided with Microwave line of sight (LOS) data
    between prospective GSM locations recorded any
    path obstructions and measured site elevation
    (AMSL) using Altimeter and Differential GPS.

  • Ensured that site location was suitable, both
    demographic and geographic, for effective GSM
    propagation and coverage.
  • Using state-of-the-art GPS set, recorded the site
    geographical coordinates. Special software and
    compass to get site magnetic bearings and other
    required path data.
  • Using the Spectrum Analyzer set, ensured there
    was no possible interference or signal
    propagation to affect the designated GSM and MW
    frequency bands.
  • GSM survey was based on the mobile coverage RF
    and MW objectives taking up to 3 candidate
    locations per site.

  • 2. SKILLED MANPOWER SUPPLY
  • Supplied Lucent with 21 Teams of Transmission
    Engineers for Testing Commissioning of GSM
    transmission network using different PDH and SDH
    equipment such as ATT Pcom, Harris MicroStar,
    and NERA STM 1 microwave radio sets.
  • Supplied Lucent with 33 Teams of Antenna
    Installers / Riggers, under Lucents disposal and
    direct supervision, to install GSM antennas and
    MW dishes of different sizes, including varied
    sizes of feeders, transmission cables, wave
    guides, jumpers, clamps, and related antenna
    accessories.

  • Transmission Contract (April 1998 Nov. 2000).
    Direct contract with Lucent Technologies.

  • The Contract called for implementation of

    survey of
  • 64 MW hops.
  • Complete design and optimization of MW hops
    documentation of design and Method of Procedures
    (MOP) prior to site installation.

  • Indoor installation on 146 sites using NERA SDH
    STM1 MW Radio with Frequency Diversity 16 hops
    with Space Diversity.
  • Outdoor Installation on 146 sites different
    sizes of cross-polarized MW dishes and wave
    guides.
  • Hop alignment, equipment testing and
    commissioning prior to site integration into the
    long-haul MW network.

    Direct contract to Ericsson project managed by
    Ericsson project consultant was Norconsult.
    Contracts for implementation of
  • 1. SITE SURVEY / RADIO SITE INVESTIGATION
  • Total Number of Surveyed Sites 755 Sites
  • Site Search/Acquisition Survey. Survey of up to
    3 candidate locations of a prospective new GSM
    Cell Site giving emphasis on RF and LOS
    considerations.
  • Change-out Site Survey. To determine the
    required transmission installation and Civil
    Works for a change out of GSM radio equipment,
    according to on-site Ericsson instructions,
    prioritizing the re-use of existing equipment for
    transmission, DC power and battery back up.

  • Radio Site Investigation.
  • Documentation of both existing and planned radio
    facilities based on RSI checklist, floor plan,
    cable tray, and site lay out drawings, and
    detailed photographs of site and equipments.
  • Transmission Survey.
  • Comprehensive transmission equipment survey
    conducted on MSC and existing Microwave Sites
    that were serving as Node Sites in the GSM mobile
    communications network.

  • 2. RADIO INSTALLATION RBS and Transmission.
  • Total Number of Completed Sites 241 Sites
  • Contract entailed the following scope of work
  • Change out of Lucent BTS 2000 equipment with
    Ericsson RBS 2202 cabinets with TRX radio units
    and associated elements.
  • Replacements and cut over of GSM antennas to
    effectively provide cellular communications in
    the 900 and 1800 MHz bands.
  • Replacements of LDF series feeders, jumpers,
    cable clamps, and other related antenna
    accessories.

    cabinet including cablings.
  • Installation of Mini-Link TMR 9202 both indoor
    and outdoor units.

  • Alignment of MW hop and 24-hour BER burn test to
    ensure optimum signal gain.
  • Installation of batteries and rectifier units
    (Battery Back Up).
  • Cable connections and terminations both outside
    and inside shelter.

    standards set by STC for GSM environment.
  • Completed shelters are being shipped from Nour
    Warehouse to the assigned GSM Cell Site.
  • Inside shelter installation includes the

  • HVAC units, MDB panel, Halon / Fire Alarm Panel
    set, Security Access Control Panel set, battery
    rack and rectifier units, Tower Obstruction Light
    Control (TOLCO), cable and trunk ladder, door
    closer, required cablings, and inside / outside
    lighting fixtures.

  • 4. SUPPLY OF CONTAINERIZED DUAL DIESEL
  • GENERATOR
  • Total Number of GSM Sites Installed with D.
    Generators 89 Sites
  • Nour is the sole agent in Saudi Arabia of
    Germanys SAB containerized dual generator. To
    date, 100 sets have been sold and 89 sets
    installed on GSM Sites not serviced by commercial
    power. Deutz is engine make of the 3-phase,
    32.5KVA, 26 KW generator.
  • As STC approved power generator for GSM sites, it
    is installed together with accessories within a
    30-foot box container providing a noise level of
    65dB at 10 meter distance.
  • Accessories provided with the generators control
    panel, starter batteries, FM200 fire
    extinguishing system, 220V and 24VDC lights,
    ventilation, fuel day tank and buried fuel bulk
    tank.

  • GSM E5 Project From September 2001 up to
    present. Direct contract to Nokia project
    managed by Nokia project consultant is
    Norconsult Telematics. Contract for
    implementation of
  • GSM AND TRANSMISSION RADIO INSTALLATION
  • Total Number of Completed GSME5 Sites 204
    Sites
  • Implementation planning based on site specific
    and network configurations radio site
    investigation survey.
  • Change out of Lucent BTS equipment with new Nokia
    Macro UltraSite or Micro MetroSite GSM 900/1800
    MHz radio including antennas, feeders and
    jumpers and battery back up unit.

  • NOKIA continued (GSME5 Radio Installation)
  • Installation, testing and commissioning of
    transmission radio Nokia FlexiHopper or
    MetroHopper, and associated MW antenna.
  • Testing, commissioning and integration of all
    installed equipments.
  • GSM E6 Project Project has just started
    January 2003 calling for approximately 130 sites
    allocated to Nour for complete radio
    installation.
  • Contract entails the same scope of work as that
    of GSME5 Project.

  • D) Saudi Telecommunications Company (STC)
  • GSM RV / CI Project (Ph I Ph II) From
    July 2001 up to present. Direct contract to STC
    Norconsult Telematics is project consultant.
  • SITE CONSTRUCTION (Civil Work and Telecom)
  • Total Number of Completed CI GSM Sites 73
    Sites
  • Contract is for Nour to construct and deliver to
    STC brand new GSM Cell sites, located along roads
    and villages in the Western Region, on a turn-key
    basis. Complete site construction requires both
    telecom and civil works scope of work as briefly
    described below
  • Civil Work Implementation
  • Site acquisition survey of up to 3 candidates per
    site

    documentation.

  • Supply, delivery and installation of Dual
    Generators and fuel tanks.
  • Complete civil and electromechanical works such
    as gantry and cable tray system, antenna mounts,
    HVAC system, cable trenches, chain link fence,
    lighting fixtures, tower painting, concreting,
    and other works.

  • Saudi Telecom (STC) continued (CI Project)
  • Telecommunications Implementation
  • Complete BTS 2000 equipment installation
    including RF accessories like TRX radio units,
    DDF, GSM 900 MHz antennas and feeders, internal
    and external cablings reconditioning of indoor
    BTS units.
  • Installation of MW transmission equipment using
    Harris MicroStar M7 or ATT Pcom radio units
    installation of MW antenna dishes up to 2.4m
    diameter and IF cable RG-8 hop alignment and BER
    burn test to ensure link stability.
  • Installation of battery back up DC supply,
    batteries and rectifier units.
  • Testing and commissioning of all installed

  • From October 1998 to December 1999. Direct
    contract with Motorola and NASCO.
  • Total Number of Completed Sites 21 Sites
  • Contract called for Installation of transmission
    equipment on
  • 21 PSD Sites located in Makkah, Jeddah and Taif.
  • MW radio used was Alcatel PDH T1 American
    Standard
  • Installation of PSD Monitoring System.
  • Transmission documentation of the 21 completed
    sites.

  • GID Transmission Project
  • Direct contract with Harris Farinon for
    implementation of
  • Transmission network installation using SDH 4T1
    QuadraLink MW radio in the Western Region
  • Installation of Omniplex Multiplexer for PTT Line
    Combining on Hand Held and Mobile Radios
  • Installation of complete Network Management
    System for the whole West District over RS-232
    modems in Taif and Jeddah.
  • PSD Transmission Project
  • Direct contract with Harris Farinon for
