INTRODUCTION OF OCB-283
  • OCB-283 is the latest Electronics Digital ISDN
type Switching technology being imported in INDIA
  • THIS IS MANUFACTURED BY M/S ALCATEL OF FRANCE
  • This Exchanage works on Stored Programme Control
    Principle.
  • Exchange can work with all types of Circuit
Subscriber Signallings also provides for lot of
    novel facilities to the subscribers.
  • This exchange can work on Common Channel
    Signalling principle using the CCITT7
    reccommendations .

5
INTRODUCTION OF OCB-283
  • Exchange has got 3 basic subsystems -
  • 1 SUBSCRIBER ACCESS SUBSYSTEM
  • 2 CONNECTION CONTROL SUBSYSTEM
  • 3. OPERATION MAINTENANCE SUBSYSTEM

6
INTRODUCTION OF OCB-283
  • 1. Subscriber Access Subsystem-
  • This is treated as an independent entity
  • Every Subscriber Connecting Equipment Rack has
got its Signalling Point Number to operate in
Common Channel Signalling mode with rest of the
    exchange Subsystems.

7
INTRODUCTION OF OCB-283
  • 2. Control Connection Subsystem is the block
    consisting of
  • A-CONTROL FUNCTIONS
  • B-CONNECTION SWITCHING EQUIPMENTS

8
INTRODUCTION OF OCB-283
  • A-CONTROL FUNCTIONS
  • COMPRISE OF COMMON CONTROL equipments which
  • process
  • monitor
  • control the call setup release

9
INTRODUCTION OF OCB-283
  • CONNECTION SWITCHING BLOCK COMPRISES OF
  • Switching matrix equipment for performing
digital time switcihing of speech path
  • Connection equipments for connecting PCM
    (digital) Junctions from
  • other exchanges
  • RSUs
  • Auxiliary Equipments for Tones ,Frequencies

  • OCB-283 SWITCHING SYSTEM
  • Any Automatic Switching System comprises in
general of following distinct Subsystems ------
  • Subscriber Access Subsystem
  • Connection Control Subsystem --- which
    comprises of
  • (a) Switching Network Units
  • (b) Circuit Connection Units
  • (c) Common Control function units
  • Operation Maintenance Subsystem
  • In OCB-283 we can classify various units into
following types according to the nature of their
    functions -
  • Connection Units
  • -These provide facility to connect a
Speech path from a subscribers loop or circuits
  • from an external PCM and transfers these
Speech samples on to selected Time Slots
    called voice channels
  • on a LR link (internal PCM)
  • - These units are
  • NAME FUNCTIONAL NAME
  • (a) Subscriber Connection units CSNL, CSND,
    CSED
  • (b) Circuit Connection Units SMT (URM )

21
  • Control Units
  • - These units provide control of calls on the
    basis of Stored programs
  • they process the calls on reception of dialed
digits from calling subscriber/ circuit take
    part
  • in handling of call setup release by
    processing .monitoring, measuring charging of
    call
  • all other common control function s needed for
working of an Automatic Common Control
  • Exchange.
  • - These Control units can comprise of following
    Functions
  • FUNCTION NAME OF UNIT NATURE OF JOB
  • MR Multiregister Call-handler
    SET UP RELEASE OF CALL
  • TR Translator Translation of
digit ,Data-bank of subs ckts in files
  • MQ Marker Message distribution
    between Common Control
  • Connection units
  • TX Charger Computing the charge
    of a call, keeping meters
  • GX Matrix System Handler Processes
    makes connections in Switching
  • matrix on the orders of MR or
    MQ
  • PC Common Channel Signaling Manages the CCS7
    network for signaling

27
TRUNK MULTIPLEX CONTROL STATION SMT
  • SMT IS THE HARDWARE STATION WHERE THE EXTERNAL
    PCMS ARE TERMINATED
  • LOGICAL FUNCTION OF SMT IS URM
  • SMT CONVERTS EXTERNAL PCMs (HDB3) TO BINARY
VICEAVERSA MAKES LR LINKS TOWARDS SMX FOR
    SWITCHING
  • SMT CAN CONNECT PCMs FROM (a) CSND (RSUS)
OR (b)CSED (RLUs) OR (c) PCMs FROM
    A DISTANT EXCHNAGE

28
AUXILIARY EQUIPMENT UNITS SMA
  • SMA IS THE HARDWARE STATION WHICH SUPPORTS
    FOLLOWING AUXILIARY EQUIPMENT FUNCTIONS -
  • 1. ETA PROVIDES TONES
  • FREQUENCY SENDER RECEIEVER
  • CONFERENCE CIRCUITS
  • EXCHANGE CLOCK IN FIRST TWO SMA
  • 2. PUPE HANDLES COMMON CHANNEL
  • SIGNALING LINKS CARRYING CCS7
    PROTOCOL
  • ABOVE FUNCTIONS ARE CONNECTED TO SMX BY LR LINKS
    FOR SWITCHING
