Domain Bacteria

• Characteristics of this domain are
• Bacteria that are prokaryotes (no nucleus)
• Cell wall contains peptidoglycan

• Characteristics of this domain are
• Species thought to be more ancient than bacteria.
• Cell walls do not contain peptidoglycan.
• Called extremophiles because they live in extreme
  environments.

• Characteristics of this domain are
• Cells with a membrane bound nucleus and membrane
  bound organelles.
• Includes the kingdoms plantae, animalia, fungi,
  and protista

• Protists do not have organs
• They are classified into three groups

• Animal-like
• Fungus-like
