  • Entry task

    of character that they fall under and why.
  • Target
  • Create a set of values that is important to you.

What are Values?
  • Qualities, characteristics or ideas in which you
    feel very strong.
  • Standards to guide your actions, judgments and
    attitudes.
  • Influence all aspects of your life, including
    your relationships, decisions, and goals.
  • The ideals and principles that are important to a
    person.

Values
  • If you remain in touch with your values, you will
    achieve your goals.
  • Values are things that are important to you,
  • Wants are things you desire.
  • Values are personal. Respect others value
    system.

Morals
  • Belief in what is right and wrong.
  • Universal morals - ones agreed by most cultures
    to be right or wrong
  • Murder
  • Incest
  • Initially from parents until we are older
  • Can change over time
  • Society has its own morals
  • May or may not match yours

Where do you get your values?
  • Values come from our homes, school, society,
    friends, TV, church, music, books, families,
    culture, etc.
  • Different people and things influence you at
    different ages
  • Ages 1-7 Parents
  • Ages 8-13 Teachers, Heroes
  • Ages 14-20 Peers
  • Ages 21 Your values are established, but you
    may test your values from time to time.

Worksheet
  • 1. Individually, complete the Values Worksheet.
  • 2. Record your top 5 values in order of
    importance.
  • 3. Keep your worksheet because you will be
    turning it in with your project.

Letter to someone you admire
  • Write a letter to someone who is living
  • Must be at least three paragraphs
  • Five sentences in each paragraph
  • Must include at least three traits and
    characteristics you admire about the person
  • Fold and put in envelope and turn in
  • DO NOT SEAL THE ENVELOPE!
  • This is worth 30 points
  • DUE WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 16TH!!!

    you see yourself in the future.
  • Include what you have learned about goals, dreams
    and values on the timeline.
  • You will have the rest of the day today and all
    of tomorrow to work on this in class.
