Why Do We Need The Fullness of the Spirit?

• We have a gigantic task making disciples of
  all nations.
• We need passion, vision, power and courage!
• We struggle with self-centered, hard hearts.
• We need love Gods love!
• We have a corrupted, distorted, unruly
  personality.
• We need Christlike character.

Why Do We Need The Fullness of the Spirit?

• We have a cunning and determined adversary.
• We need Gods power to overcome him.
• We live in a world filled with incredible
  challenges and overwhelming needs.
• We need divine enablements (gifts) for
  effective ministry.
• We sense our inadequacy in prayer.
• We need Gods help in intercession.

Experience?

• Study what the Bible says about this experience.
• Ask Christ to fill you with His Spirit.
• Believe that Christ will give you what you ask
  for.
• Obey what the Holy prompts (nudges) you to do.

• Jesus emphasized the importance and priority of
  this experience.
• A key purpose for Holy Spirit empowerment is to
  fulfill the Great Commission
• This experience transforms timid believers into
  courageous and effective witnesses.
• This experience is intended to impact and
  influence every aspect of the Christian life.

1. Study what the Bible says about this experience

• This experience leads into a whole new dimension
  of empowered ministry the gifts of the Spirit
  the miraculous.
• The Holy Spirit inspires and enables the
  development of Godly, Christ-like character
• The Holy Spirit super-charges our prayer and
  praise
• This experience is not for a few, elite
  super-saints but for all believers

2. You Must Ask Christ to Fill you with the Holy
Spirit

• Christians today can and should seek this same
  empowering experience!
• Spiritual hunger and thirst are essential to
  receiving this experience
• We can depend on the fact that God will give us
  what they ask for.
• See Luke 119-13

3. You Must Believe that Christ Will Give You
What You Ask For.

• The empowerment of the Holy Spirit is the promise
  of the Father
• Faith is essential to receive any gift from the
  Lord! James 16-7 Hebrews 116
• The apostle Paul asserted that the Holy Spirit
  was received by faith. Galatians 32-5

4. Then Obey What the Holy Spirit Prompts You to
Do.

• The book of Acts clearly indicates that those
  who experienced the Holy Spirits fullness in the
  1st Century spoke in tongues (Acts 24) When you
  are filled with the Holy Spirit you can expect
  the Lord to prompt you to do the same thing
• The Holy Spirit prompted them He gave them the
  sounds, the words, the phrases to speak.
• They had to speak When He prompted them they
  yielded to Him and spoke out what He was
  prompting them to say.

How this works

• After you have asked God to fill you with His
  Spirit you will sense an urge, a desire, an
  impression, a nudge to speak sounds, syllables,
  words, or phrases you have never learned before
  to God in worship, praise and thanksgiving.
• When that happens you must cooperate with God
  you must decide to do what He is prompting you to
  do.

What is The Nudge?

• The sweet, sensitive and significant impressions
  of the Holy Spirit within the Christians life,
  guiding him/her to act, speak, behave and serve
  in keeping with the redemptive purposes and
• will of God.

How this works

• God does NOT take hold of your tongue and make
  you speak in tongues. You may have a very
  powerful experience but God does not overpower
  you and possess you like a demon would. You must
  cooperate with the Holy Spirits nudge
• Some people receive in a church service. Others
  receive when they are alone (at home, during
  devotions, in the car etc.)

How this works

• Many altar services are so loud people have
  difficulty responding to the Spirits nudge.
  You need to quiet yourself enough so you can hear
  the Holy Spirits voice!
• The issue is not IF God will fill you with His
  Spirit the only issue is WHEN and WHERE this
  wonderful experience will be yours!
