Activity/Assessment Ideas
  • Math Classroom Activity
  • In response to the When are we ever going to use
    this question
  • A group of students (4) must photograph a minimum
of 4 images that are closely related to
mathematical concepts. (can send pictures to
    right from their camera phone)
  • The group is responsible for explaining in words
how each of the images are related to
mathematical concepts. (This will help them tag
    their images)
  • The teacher then collects the images based on
common tags and uses them to create real-life
application problems for relevance in the
    classroom (i.e. architecture, nature, business,
    etc.)
  • The images can be displayed around the classroom
to create an environment of ownership for the
    students
  • Optional After class has compiled all of their
    photos, ask the students to
  • A) determine how many different concepts relate
    to one photo
  • B) determine how many different photos relate to
    one concept
