Requirements to Declare the CJ Major
  • Completion of 4 required prerequisites (12
    units)
  • POLS 102 Intro to Am/Ca Govt. Politics
  • SOC 101 Intro Sociology
  • SOC 150 Intro to Social Problems
  • SOC 201 (or other lower-division Statistics)
  • Minimum grade of C in all prerequisites. These
    courses cannot be taken for credit/no credit
    (Cr/NC).
  • Complete a minimum of 60 transferable semester
    units.
  • Minimum 2.60 Cumulative GPA.

  • Completion of 6 required prerequisites (18
    units)
  • ACCTG 201 Financial Accounting Fundamentals
  • ECON 101 Principles of Economics
  • ECON 102 Principles of Economics
  • POL S 102 Intro to American and Californian
    Government and Politics
  • IDS 180 Principles of Information Systems
  • A three-unit course in elementary statistics
  • An additional three-unit prerequisite, PA 200, is
    required and may be taken concurrently with PA
    upper-division courses.
  • Minimum grade of C in all prerequisites.
    These courses cannot be taken for credit/no
    credit (Cr/NC).
  • Complete a minimum of 60 transferable semester
    units.
  • Minimum 2.40 Cumulative GPA.

Procedures to Declare the Major
  • At the end of each semester (after grades are
    posted) pre-majors will be evaluated by the
    Office of dvising and Evaluations and
    automatically declared a major if all
    pre-requisite requirements have been met.
  • Students not meeting the minimum pre-requisite
    requirements may petition for special
    consideration by doing the following
  • You must complete the Declaration or Change of
    Undergraduate Major form.
  • Attach your SDSU degree evaluation or transcripts
    from colleges attended.
  • Highlight
  • Catalog year in which you declared the premajor
    (if applicable).
  • Prerequisites that you have completed.
  • Cumulative GPA.
  • Total earned units.
  • Submit form for approval and signature.
  • During Orientation
  • OR
  • Student Drop Box in PA Center, PSFA 100

Procedures for Change of Major for New Students
  • Freshmen wanting to change their major should to
    send an e-mail to the Office of Admissions
    (admissions_at_sdsu.edu) with their name, RedID and
    the name of the major they want to change to.
  • Transfers are not allowed to change their major
    until after classes begin. However, if you are
    already a declared pre-major, you may follow the
    procedures to the declare the major.
  • Students with questions should go the
  • Prospective Student Center.

Completing your Master Plan
  • Fill out a Master Plan Worksheet by the beginning
    of your last semester at SDSU. Worksheets are
    available in PA lobby (PSFA 100).
  • See an Advisor for questions pertaining to your
    Master Plan.
  • Turn in your signed Master Plan Worksheet to
    student Drop Box located in the PA lobby.
  • Be sure to attach a copy of your Degree Audit
    Report (DAR).
  • Once signed the worksheet, will be left for
    you in the students
  • Pick-Up Box (on table in PA lobby).

    competitive.

Tips to Expedite Completing Your Program
  • Declare your major a.s.a.p.
  • Speak to an Advisor early.
  • Complete your Master Plan.
  • Register for required courses as soon as you can.
  • Pay attention to pre-requisite requirements.
  • GE Exploration courses must not be taken sooner
    than the semester in which you achieve upper
    division standing (60 units passed).
