Library Orientation

• Purposes of this session
• Introduce new students to the librarys resources
  and organization
• For others refresh memories and show you what is
  new
• Nice and easy grade for your English class if you
  listen!

Computer lab/laptops

• Lab is a research lab and classroom
• Teachers sign up for use
• Laptops are used only when lab is not available
• Sign-off and replace laptops by plugging in
• Familiarize yourself with the rules as posted
• No surfing, sorry!

• Color-coded (posted on wall)
• Non-fiction (Blue or Blue/Green)
• Fiction (Red, Gold, Green)
• Biography (Yellow)
• Reference (Black)
• All arranged by Dewey Decimal System
• (Posted on wall)

• OPAC system (Online Public Access Catalog)
• Located on 3 library computers
• 4 ways of searching

Check out procedure

• Sign-out sheet in 3 ring binder
• 3 books at a time
• Reference books (black label) with permission
• Name and 5 digit barcode
• Stamp return date
• Two weeks check-out
• Renew if needed
• Late fee of 10 cents a day
