Disney land Paris history Following on from the
success of the DisneyLand theme park in Anaheim,
plans to build a European version first started
around 1975, nine years after Walt Disney died.
Initially Britain, Italy, Spain and France were
all considered as possible locations, though
Britain and Italy were quickly dropped from the
list of potential sites because they both lacked
a suitably large expanse of flat land.
Eventually the French location won, and a site
was duly investigated at Marne-la-Vallee, partly
because of its close proximity to Paris, and also
it's central positioning within western europe. A
factor that was though to be crucial to the
park's future success if it was to attract
sufficient visitors. The proposed location put
the park within 4-hours drive for around 68
million people, and 2 hours flight for a further
300 million or so.
8
Opening Day... Euro Disney first opened to
employees, for testing during late March 1992,
during which time the main sponsors and their
families were invited to visit the new park. The
formal press preview day was held on April 11th
1992, and the park finally opened to visitors on
April 12th 1992. The opening day crowds,
expected to number up to 500,000 visitors, failed
to materialize, however, and at close of the
first day barely 50,000 people had passed through
the gates. This may have been partly due protests
from French locals who feared their culture would
be damaged by Euro Disney, but whatever the cause
the low initial attendance was very disappointing
for the Disney company

Introduction
16
Disney theme parks have charmed audiences
worldwide because their unique architecture
contains the ability to both reassure and inspire
the guest, which has resulted in the creation of
Disney-inspired architecture in the outside
world.
17
Main Street (here in Disneyland Paris) captures
the essence of Disney charm comforting and
inspiring architectural design and spatial
layout. The success of the Disney environment,
particularly Main Street, has resulted in
elements of Disney design influencing modern
architecture.
18
Disneyland is located around a central area (the
castle) from which all other lands emanate,
giving the guest a sense of orientation,
security, and intimacy.
19
Real world problems, such as time and traffic,
are also eliminated on Main Street, reassuring
the visitor. People can forget cars and instead
enjoy walking or a variety of pleasant public
transportation systems.
20
Main Street builds confidence in the guest with
its intimate feel, created both by the sense of
scale (using forced perspective), and the
nostalgic representations of a turn-of-the-century
town.
21
Though reassuring, Main Street also inspires
guests with its aura of energy and magic,
accentuated at night with lights.
22
Towns like Seaside, Florida, created in the style
of New Urbanism, rely on Disney-established
principles that also work to reassure the guest.
23
These New Urban neighborhoods combat the problems
of sprawl by increasing the sense of community,
while decreasing the problems of the outside
world.
24
These New Urban towns have a clear center, and no
homes are built farther than 5 minutes walking
distance from it.
25
Disney has even built a town in Florida called
Celebration (built in 1994) whose quaint
neighborhood resembles that of Main Street and
relies on many of the same principles to reassure
residents. All buildings have a visual harmony,
and residents are reassured by the de-emphasis of
the automobile (having created back roads for
travel and parking).
26
Quaint details in Celebration reassure visitors
with their friendly sense of nostalgia.
27
Though Celebration is secure and comforting, it
also inspires residents with its energetic,
playful, imaginative side.
28
A shopper enjoys West Edmonton Mall in Canada,
the largest shopping center in the world. The
themed architecture operates to reassure the
guest and to provide comfort as well as elements
of fantasy. Disney architecture undoubtedly is
influencing the modern architectural
landscapeboth urban and suburbanbut will it
positively affect our culture? It appears that
any environment that can reassure and inspire
will only improve lives, but only time will
reveal the answer to our question.

E-commerce Model
  • Business-to-business (B2B)
  • Business-to-consumer (B2C)
  • Business-to-business-to-consumer (B2B2C)
  • Business-to-employee (B2E)
  • Mobile commerce (m-commerce)

B 2 B
Walt's resorts work with the collaboration of
several other business for the purpose of food
items in their hotels. Just like KFC has a
collaboration with KN chicken delivery services.
Similarly Disney Resorts in Paris has a
collaborations with Eat Healthy Inc. a US based
company which provides them with several food
items. Also for the purpose of Media
advertisement they work with Tri Star a famous
Hollywood production company. Where as some
famous characters of Disney Mickey and Goofy are
sponsored by Walt Disney its self. They
characters wandering in the hotel for
entertainment are registered with copy rights and
hotels are charged with fares for these characters
31
B 2 C
Most important collaboration of Disney resorts is
with its customers. Disney resorts are basically
consumers based business. A hotel business has a
basic emphasize over customers.
B 2 B 2 C
Disney resort as providing services and products
to their other client business , these client
business providing their services to maintain its
own costumer for Disney providing their
services. e.g For example companies providing
fringe benefits to their customers in case of
free holidays at Disney Resorts
32
B 2 E
Disney resort is also providing some beneficial
packages for their employees. E.g. PIA providing
traveling facility to their employees. etc

weaknesses
39
Weaknesses
  • less customer contact
  • Customers information may be some time
    misleading.

40
Opportunities
41
  • Still it is concentrating on just 13 major
countries, but there is a big market to capture.
  • There is an opportunity to make a Disney Land at
any other location like Hong Kong because it is a
beautiful place. An online survey of considering
Hong Kong Disney Land shows the results-
  • The majority of respondents (77) considered
Hong Kong to be an attractive destination. First
time visitors (84) and those visiting for
vacation purposes (80) gave higher ratings than
repeat visitors (75) and business visitors
    (72).

42
  • Nearly three quarters of respondents (72) were
aware of the Hong Kong Disneyland project.
  • Ninety-three percent (93) of respondents
considered that Hong Kong Disneyland would
increase Hong Kongs attractiveness as a tourist
    destination.
  • Eighty-two percent (82) of respondents indicated
after the opening of Hong Disneyland in 2005,
they would regard Hong Kong as an attractive
destination. Only four per cent indicated that
    Hong Kong would be unattractive.
  • Most respondents (66) did not consider that Hong
Kong would lose its cultural identity with a
Disney attraction. Nonetheless, one fifth of
respondents (19) considered that there would be
a loss of Hong Kongs cultural identity.
  • Over one third of respondents (38) indicated a
Disney attraction would introduce more American
influence on Hong Kong Society. Forty-five
percent (45) indicated that it would not.
Seventeen percent (17) gave a neutral response.

43
  • One third of respondents (32) considered that
Hong Kong Disneyland does not contribute to Hong
Kongs uniqueness as a tourist destination. While
just over half of respondents (52) considered it
    would.
  • Seventy-one percent (71) of tourists
participating in the survey indicated they would
support the development of a Disney theme park in
Hong Kong while 11 indicated they would not.
Eighteen percent (18) gave a neutral response.

44
Threats
  • There may not be any threat for the Disney Land
    of Ecommerce.
  • Ecommerce is for the benefits of business and
    customers as well.

45
Ecommerce Revolution
  • Ecommerce has made every task very easy for the
business. Now in every business ecommerce can be
applied. Considering Disney Land ecommerce has
played a very important role in the establishment
and success of the business. While B2C is
implemented, so every one has easy access to the
information needed to take decision related to
the visit to Disney land. Everyone can book
hotel, vehicles, and so on from any part of the
world which was impossible before the revolution
    of ecommerce.

46
  • Not only B2C, but B2B ecommerce has improved the
way of business of Disney Land. Management gets
    information about everything (i.e. Future
Requirement) and can manage the needs easily by
using B2B. As management gets all information
then it can order its requirements to its
suppliers. And Suppliers are bound to do business
so there will not be any flaw to fulfill the
    requirements of the customers.
  • So concluding all this, ecommerce has changed
all the ways of business and gave the best ways
    of successful business

    is stable.

55
Issues of disney Resorts
56
In any case, when trying to decide to stay
"on-site" or "off-site", here are some issues to
consider Price  Disney hotels are expensive.
A room at the Disneyland Hotel costs over 200,
but a very similar hotel room, not owned and
operated by Disney, can be had for less than half
of that price. Service  Disney "cast members",
as employees are called, typically provide
service that is generally high. This might be the
best reason for staying at a Disney hotel.
Atmosphere Except for the new Grand
Californian, the Disneyland Resort Hotels are not
themed as they are at Walt Disney World. They
look like very nice, but are typical, resort
hotels.
57
Early Entry (Magic Mornings)  Guests of the
Disneyland Resort Hotels are allowed to enter the
park each morning about an hour and a half before
the general public is permitted access. During
these "Magic Mornings", you can see and do as
much in that first hour as you might in three or
four hours at a busier time of the day. It's a
nice way to get a good head start on everyone
else.  Of course, holders of some flex passes can
take advantage of Magic Mornings, too, even if
they're staying offsite Resort Delivery  A
wonderful perk is the delivery service that is
available to Disney hotel guests. Any item
purchased in any store in the park can be sent
over to the hotel. This can be an incredible
convenience when you are in the middle of the day
at the park, but see an item you just have to
have.
58
Proximity  Of course, being right at the
Disneyland Resort Hotels means that you're
directly adjacent to the park. In Anaheim,
though, there are Thirty other hotels that are
almost as close. The only advantage to staying at
the Disneyland Resort Hotels is the Monorail and
trams, a nice perk, but probably not worth an
extra 100 per night.  Of the offsite hotels, I
would classify nineteen of them as being "in
walking distance."
59
THE PROBLEMS Although Disney believed they
had hit a "gold mine" by developing their fourth
theme park just outside of Paris, in time they
would learn this was not the case. Euro
Disneyland's target of 11 million guests in the
first year was met, but revenues did not roll in
as had been planned Although there was a change
in the head of Euro Disneyland there are problems
which it faced with the old management and still
faces problems with the new management. Among
these problems are included their optimistic
assumptions, staffing and training, cultural
issues, interest rates, marketing, communication,
and convention business. But now they are trying
v hard to solve these issues.
60
  • Hiring process was v complicate, there were
    language requirements since the official
languages of Euro Disneyland are French and
English. Preferences were given to trilingual
applicants because it was hoped that the park
would draw guests from all over Europe.
  • There has been a different type of cultural
clash because there were lots of employees from
different places and to guide them in similar way
was a problem, since every one has his own values
    and norms but the
  • Disney executives said the the persons who want
to work. Our answer to them is that the answer
to doubts or suggestions invariably was Do as we
    say, because we know best"

When is the best time to visit the Disneyland
Resort? Selecting the best time to visit the
Disneyland Resort depends upon your interests.
If you want to visit when the number of Guests
is fairly low, plan to stay mid-week
(Tuesdays-Thursdays) during mid-September
through mid- November mid-January through
mid-March or mid-April through mid-May The
benefit of visiting the Resort when number of
Guests is low is that wait times are shorter and
you can do more. However, Disney's California
Adventure park and Disneyland park typically
reduce their operating hours. Also, there may be
fewer entertainment and events, and attractions
are more frequently closed for refurbishment. If
you want to visit while the Park has extended
hours, entertainment, events and most attractions
operating, plan your stay for weekends, including
extended holiday weekends during Christmas and
Spring Break or June-August
65
How can my family enjoy a visit with the Disney
Characters? The Disney Characters are scattered
throughout the Disneyland Resort during your
stay. For information on where they will be,
