  • 112 firefighters died in the line of duty
  • Increase of 21 from 1998
  • 300,000 firefighters sustained injuries in the
    line of duty

  • 1 federal forestry
  • 21 heart attacks
  • 13 asphyxiated
  • 8 burned
  • 6 internal trauma
