travel through the eyes of four characters
  • Each 4-person group must make decision about
going to the moon using consensus

  • Each student will have a Palm

4
Use of Palm
  • Use during consensus decision making process
  • Data collection software???
  • Tables will be beamed to students with special
needs gifted students can design tables forms
    for their group

    - Space Tourism
  • Why make a decision using consensus instead of
    voting?
  • Who else uses it?
  • Use of Palm for journal and consensus support
  • Friday video conference with members of the
Ravenswood Collective and business leaders who

    the moon.
  • How much does a space shuttle cost?
  • Students will search the NASA website to find out
how much they spend on the building of space
    shuttles.
  • How many crew members need to be present?
  • Students will have a video conference with
someone from the Chicago Space Museum and discuss

used by each persons family in one
    day/month/year use Excel?)
  • Tuesday What are some of the negative
    environmental impacts of using oil?

13
More Questions from Elaine . . .

  • Thursday What are some environmental benefits
of space travel? Student Data GDS Remote
    Sensing
  • Friday What do other environmentalists think
    about space travel?

How many jobs will going to the moon create?
  • Engage in internet research for how many people
have to work to make a trip into space
  • Ask NASA Expert about this on Friday

someone will need to control space travel
  • Talk about US Space Command, what they do, and
what would have to change for them to control
    tourist trips to the moon

How will they control it?
  • Talk about current ways of controlling space
travel, and what would likely happen if tourist
    moon travel was added
  • Have a student discussion within groups about
what rules they think would be needed for tourist
    moon travel
  • Ask NASA expert about current ways of controlling
    space travel on Friday

18
What will be the requirements (height, weight,
etc.) of people going to the moon?
  • Discuss what students think the requirements
    should be
