General Changes
  • Style Guide HR Manual
  • Download at bpanet.org or mnbpa.org
  • Throw old guides
  • Reference materials may be on a CD-ROM for
    computer events only
  • Pre-submitted materials will be done
    electronically
  • Check WSAP, p. 5 for email addresses
  • Torch Awards will be done online student will
    need their ID and password

General Changes
  • Paper copies are required for pre-submits in most
    cases
  • Check the WSAP for number of printouts of
    materials to the interview
  • E.G. Econ Research brings two printed copies to
    the interview for each - prelims and finals
    total of four copies
  • Do not plan that the prelim copies will be
    available for finals

Computer Use
  • On-Site Computer Lab
  • No outside equipment allowed in the lab unless
    specified in the guidelines (WSAP)
  • In case of medical disability must obtain
    written permission from Director of Educational
    Programs (Jennifer Dunkle)
  • 2003 and 2007 MS Office Suite will be on site
  • In 2010 only 2007 will be offered

  • Color Printing
  • Allowed for on-site judged events check
    Events-at-a-Glance column
  • Usually allowed for work submitted prior to
    conference
  • Black and White Printing
  • All work done in on-site computer lab
  • Students bringing in Macs for DTP must print in
    black/white or grayscale

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
  • No pre-submit for the following that will be
    judged on site
  • Digital Media
  • Website Design Team
  • Video Production
  • C, Java and VB.Net no objective test
    students supply computers for application
    problems
  • Cisco and MS Network objective only this is a
    change
  • Returning Computer Network Technology open
  • Computer Security Concepts changed to Computer
    Security (this is not an open event)
  • IT Events have been re-numbered, register
    carefully

IT Event Changes
  • Novell Network Admin dropped
  • Computer Animation Team will replace Computer
    Animation Individual as a piloted event an will
    advance to NLC
  • Software Engineering Team contestants supply
    their own printer and paper
  • Software Engineering Individual was not adopted

Financial Events
  • Financial Analyst Team (10)
  • Teams must supply their own equipment, cords,
    etc.
  • One (1) laptop, one (1) printer and their own
    paper
  • Advanced Spreadsheet (07)
  • Piloted again in 2009
  • Students will advance to NLC
  • Fundamental Spreadsheet (06)
  • This event may not be repeated!

MMHR
  • Check events for time stipulations
  • Contestants will be stopped when time limit met
  • Specification points for time eliminated in most
    cases
  • Most events are submitted electronically
  • Graphic Design will be snail-mailed as outlined
    in WSAP
  • Interview events may use fictitious address,
    phone number

  • Alignment of standards (education/industry)
  • Contest Authoring
  • States can sign up for test creation
  • ExamView and other test generators utilized
  • State assignments of event administration
  • Online surveys to collect information
  • Updating/eliminating events

Recommendation Forms
  • General Recommendation Form
  • For all recommendations, other than WSAP, that
    need to be addressed at the national level
  • WSAP Recommendation Form
  • All recommendations for WSAP changes
  • If possible, provide supporting documentation
  • CEAC and SAAC will not consider recommendations
    which are not submitted on the proper form
  • You can make recommendations directly on the
    national website anytime!
  • Go to the advisors area and submit your
    recommendations for change!

  • Conference Hotel Sheraton
  • Parking is very expensive
  • Public transportation is excellent
  • Special event rodeo or Six Flags
  • Preferential seating for students wearing
    official blazers
  • May be coming soon (2010) requirement of blazers
    for official events (patch)
