Goal 1 Food to Eat and Roof Overhead - Needs/Gaps
  • One-Night Count of King Countys homeless
    estimated 7,980 are homeless on any given night,
    of which 4,675 are in shelters.
  • King County Consortium - DCHS-administered
    regional housing partnership includes setaside
    funds for regional homeless programming.
  • DCHS Veterans Program - Partners with state and
    federal VA and Health Care for the Homeless to
    identify/address needs of indigent veterans.
    Nearly 5,000 eligible requests for financial
    assistance could not be met in 2002 due to lack
    of funds.
  • Housing Opportunity Fund - Works with community
    partners to direct funds (1 M) to facilities for
    the homeless, very low-income, special needs.
  • Regional Affordable Housing Program - Consortium
    of ALL cities, administered by DCHS that makes
    decisions on capital projects, emergency/transitio
    nal housing (2.5 M annually).
  • Human Services Recommendations Report 2004-2006 -
    Priorities and focus areas.
  • Consolidated Housing Community Development Plan
    2005-2010 will gather and report on needs and
    gaps in regional housing.
