Pengumpulan Data Kerusakan Aset Budaya Di DI
Yogyakarta dan Provinsi Jawa Tengah Pasca Gempa
Bumi
2
Points to Consider
  • High level of damage to cultural assets in the
    post-quake areas
  • Extent of area that was hit by the quake
  • Little documentation in the cultural field
  • An expressed interest from the community as well
as government interagencies to clean up and
utilise the data of the damaged cultural assets
  • Disruption to the daily lives of the community
    including their cultural activities

3
Activity
  • To document the extent of damage to cultural
assets in DI Yogyakarta and Central Java through
integration between Central interagencies as well
as Provincial in the cultural field
  • Documentation covers photography, database,
object description, to register the geographic
coordinate of object and to place them on the
    digital map
  • Types of object that are documented buildings,
material culture, sites, location, and persons

Database
3 databases were used throughout the
documentation exercise and they are for objects,
photo, and zone blocks. All three were made
separately but could be combined in the final
usage.
4
Result
  • 713 cultural asset objects from 12 zone blocks
that are located in the administrative zone of
the City of Yogyakarta, Kabupaten Bantul,
Kabupaten Sleman, and Kabupaten Klaten. Includes
more than 2.561 frame digital images
  • A team from the Borobudur Centre on the 22 to 25
June 2006 had done initial photogarphy on the
sites of Candi Prambanan, Candi Lumbung, Candi
Bubrah, Candi Sewu, Candi Plaosan, Candi Sojiwan,
Kraton Yogyakarta Hadiningrat, Tamansari, and the
Noble Cemetery of Imogiri. The team was able to
capture more than 930 frame of digital images.
  • The team also received 580 digital photo frames
    from Balai Pelestarian Peninggalan Purbakala
(BP3) Jawa Tengah of archaeological remains in
the areas of Bayat, Central Java
  • A total of 4.071 frame of digital images have
    been collected so far.

5
Constraints
  • Limited time and coordination
  • Lack of information of the damages in cultural
    field
  • Lack of support from community in data collection
    in the cultural field
  • No Standard Operation Procedure (SOP)
  • The non-existence of an Emergency Preparedness
Team in the cultural field at the Provincial or
    Central level
  • Difficulty in obtaining an accurate map of the
disaster areas either in print or digital form
  • No data and information centre that is managed by
either government or private institutions to
    accommodate the documentation results. Support
from various groups is schedule to end by end of
    June.

6
Future Problems
  • Limited data storage space
  • Public Access
  • Data usage
  • Infrastructure to deliver information
  • Cooperation
  • Financial Support
