Summary
Synopsis 'Base Metals Mining in India to 2020'
report comprehensively covers Indian reserves of
base metals (copper, lead and zinc), metal
resources by state, the historic and forecast
data on copper, lead and zinc (base metals) mine
production, historic and forecast data on refined
copper, lead and zinc metal consumption, copper
ores and concentrates imports and lead and zinc
imports by country. The report also includes
factors affecting demand for base metals (copper,
lead and zinc), profiles of major base metal
producing companies and information on the
active, exploration and development copper, lead
and zinc projects. The Fiscal Regime section
provides information about the country's
regulatory authority,

laws, licenses and other fiscal regime
information such as taxes, rates and other
charges applicable to the mining of the commodity
in the country. It is an essential tool for
companies active in Indian mining, and for new
competitors considering entering the
industry. Summary India has significant
resources of copper, lead, zinc, coal, nickel,
iron ore and gold. At the end of April 2013, the
country had 12.2 million tonnes (Mt) of copper,
12Mt of lead and 35.9Mt of zinc metal resources.
The country's copper mine production measured an
estimated 35,000 tonnes (t) in 2014, while lead
mine production measured 112,000t and zinc mine
production measured 800,988t. In India, base
metals are

largely found across the states of Rajasthan,
Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand. Scope The report
contains an overview of the Indian base metals
(copper, lead and zinc) mining industry together
with the key factors affecting the industry and
demand for the commodities. It also provides
information about reserves, historic and forecast
data on copper, lead and zinc mine production,
base metal consumption, ores and concentrates
imports, the competitive landscape and active,
exploration and development copper, lead and zinc
projects.

Reasons To Buy Gain an understanding of the
Indian base metals mining industry, its reserves,
historicand forecast data on copper, lead and
zinc (base metals) mine production, historic and
forecast domestic copper, lead and zinc metal
consumption, ores and concentrates imports,
demand drivers, active, exploration and
development base metal projects, the competitive
landscape and the country's fiscal regime. Key
Highlights - According to the Indian Bureau of
Mines, India had 12.2 million tonnes (Mt) of
total copper metal resources, of which 3Mt were
metal reserves, including proved at 370,310
tonnes (t) and probable reserves at 2.6Mt, while
the remainder was metal resources.

- In India, most of the copper metal resources
(including metal reserves) are located in
Rajasthan (4.5Mt), Madhya Pradesh (3.5Mt) and
Jharkhand (3.3Mt). Overall, these three states
accounted for 92.5 (or 11.3Mt) of the country's
total pure metal resources- Rajasthan dominates
in terms of lead metal reserves, accounting for
87.5 or 10.5Mt of the country's total, followed
by Andhra Pradesh (836,880t), Gujarat (209,700t),
Uttarakhand (182,600t) and West Bengal
(140,070t), while other states accounted for the
remaining 170,070t.
