increased at an increasing rate in South Africa.

telecom industry are- MTN, Vodacom, Telkom,

number of mobile subscribers has been increasing
consistently, with Vodacom having the largest

South Africa has a vibrant mobile market that has
seen rapid uptake since competition was
introduced to the sector in the 1990s. The
network operators - Vodacom, MTN, Cell C and
Telkom SA - are increasingly forced to find
innovative ways of distinguishing themselves from
the competition in order to gain and retain
customers. This implies network operators will
have to become creative in retaining existing
customers and driving revenue growth. It is
estimated that South Africa will remain one of
the largest telecom service revenue markets in
the AME region in 2016, generating estimated
revenue of USD 9.2 billion. However telecom
services revenue in South Africa to decline at a
CAGR of -2.4 in USD during 2016-2021.
