Do you think before consuming a glass of milk? Is
milk healthy for growing your children? You might
have heard that milk is a complete food for kids.

except vitamin D. So what is the mean of whole
food and superfood? Thus, the superfood is
related to food, which offers several health
benefits. Well, it is not valid with the milk
that contains adulterants or some poisonous substa
nces. Your milkman might mix the adulterants and
contaminate the milk to enhance its shelf life,
which is extremely dangerous than the health
benefits. Moreover, you might have heard that
milk contains every essential nutrient, but
adulterated milk does not include any nutrients.

the quality of milk and thus makes it extremely

Milk Adulteration has become highly popular
nowadays. Although there are several ways through
which the milk has been contaminated.  Most
common adulterants which are less harmful are the
addition of water in milk. Despite the impurities
added from water, there are several dangers in
consuming milk. For recognizing milk adulteration
done via the mixing of water.  There are some
simple tests which can be performed, such as milk
slip test, running drop of milk on a polished or
smooth surface. If the milk is pure, it will
surely leave some traces behind otherwise
not.

Pure milk leaves some residue or traces
behind. However, milk mixed with water addition
will flow out. This is by far easy to know. Not
every time the milk which we consume is entirely
pure, it might contain urea, vanaspati, starch,
or water as the contamination. Even the packed
milk from some reputed brand or being purchased
from milk vendors can be contaminated. Thus, it
is imperative to check fluid before
consuming. How is milk adulterated? In ancient
times the milk was completely pure and fresh.
There was no chemical used which contaminate the
milk. So every individual gets the purest form of
milk and gets complete nutrients. But nowadays,
the contaminated milk has become highly popular.
This is due to the utilization of steroids and
chemicals in milk industries. So, lets know
about the chemicals being used for milk
adulteration.

Chemicals Used for Milk Adulteration Oxytocin It
is an injection utilized to produce milk
buffaloes and cows. It is a hormone that
influences the production of milk and
extraction. Whenever the oxytocin is injected in
buffaloes or cow, some hormone gets released in
milk. Well, some common cause of hormone
imbalance with men and women is due to the
oxytocin available in milk. Thus, this hormone
can have several side effects in men, women, and
children. Moreover, this chemical reduces the
life span of cattle. Formalin It is a
preservative being utilized for preserving dead
bodies and biological specimens. Thus, to enhance
milk life, milkman adds some drops of this
chemical. This formalin increases cancer chances,
skin diseases, and eye diseases. Hydrogen
Peroxide It is utilized the same as formalin.
Moreover, it increases the shelf life of milk and
preserves bacterial growth. Milk adulteration
done with hydrogen peroxide enhances heartbeat
and results in cardiac arrhythmia.

Tips to check Milk Adulteration Reduction
Test For the execution of this test, boil milk
for about 2-3 hours till it gets solidifies and
becomes hard. Rock-solid and rough residue means
milk has additives. Moreover, oily residue means
it is of superior quality. Recognizing Synthetic
Milk The synthetic milk is made via the mixing of
chemicals and things such as soap in natural
milk. To understand synthetic milk, you can taste
it and acquire if it tastes terrible. Well, this
feels soapy while rubbed and gets yellowish
whenever heated. Water in Milk The water in milk
might not be bad for health but surely for your
pocket. Thus, to check put milk drop on any
slanted surface. If milk feels some traces
behind, then it is pure otherwise
not. Vanaspati If consumed in large quantity,
vanaspati is not suitable for the health of
individuals. Thus, to check if milk is
adulterated with vanaspati. Then, add 2
tablespoons of hydrochloric acid and 1 tbsp of
sugar in 1 tbsp of milk. If this milk turns red,
then it is impure.
6
Starch in Milk If your milkman has added starch
in milk. Then, you can detect it by adding 2 tbsp
of salt to 5 ml of milk. If this mixture turns
blue, then, its adulterated otherwise
not. Formalin in Milk The formalin is leveraged
for preservatives. Well, it is transparent in
color, and it can preserve the milk for a long
time. Thus, to test this take 10 ml of milk in a
test tube and add 2-3 drops of sulphuric acid. If
any blue ring appears then milk is adulterated
otherwise not. Urea Test in Milk Mixing of urea
in milk is one of the standard forms of milk
adulteration. As it does not changes, taste and
typical to recognize. To check urea in milk, make
sure to mix a ½ tablespoon of milk and soybean
powder and mix it well. Dip it in litmus paper
and if the colour changes, then it means it is
contaminated. Conclusion I hope with this blog
