    upgrade the company file. Once opening the
    company file in the new version of QuickBooks,

Step-wise Instructions to Update QuickBooks
Company File to the Current Version
  • Here are the steps to upgrade older company file
    to work in the latest version of the QuickBooks
    desktop.
  • Log in to Windows as an administrator.
  • Get the latest version of the QuickBooks desktop.
  • Follow the prompt steps to complete the
    installation.
  • Next, prepare the company file
  1. Open QuickBooks.
  2. Then, open the company file you want to update.
  3. Open the Product Information window by pressing
    the F2 key.
  4. Note down the location of the company file.
  5. Now, run the Rebuild tool. It will prepare the
    company file for update.

  • Update the company file
  1. Log out from the company file.
  2. Open the latest QuickBooks version.
  3. Choose Open or Restore Company if the company
    file doesnt open.
  4. Click Open a company file option and then Next.
  5. Search for the company file and select Open.
  6. Log in to the company file as an administrator.
  7. QuickBooks automatically creates a backup of the
    company file before updating, you can change the
    location to save the file to a particular folder.
  8. To start the upgrade, click Update Now.
  9. At last, click Done.

  • Update QuickBooks desktop
  1. First, close your company files and QuickBooks.
  2. Click on the Windows Start menu.
  3. Look for QuickBooks Desktop. Right-click the icon
    and choose Run as administrator.
  4. When the No Company Open screen appears, move to
    the Help menu.
  5. Then, click Update QuickBooks Desktop.
  6. Navigate to the Options tab.
  7. Click Mark All and then select Save.
  8. Select the Update Now tab and select the Reset
    Update checkbox.
  9. To start the download, select Get Updates.
  10. Once the update finishes, reopen QuickBooks.
