Newborns happen to cry a lot. This is the only
mode of communication for them to express their
discomfort whether sleepy, tired, or hungry.
Your babys crying may not mean he or shes
unhealthy. However, if your baby is crying
intensely and for a long period of time, he or
she may be colic.
Moreover, you will know there are colic problem
in your babies when you notice symptoms
like screaming and crying, maybe pulling in the
legs, arching the back, or clenching the fists.
3
What Causes Colic In Babies?
The real reason behind the signs and symptoms of
colic in your newborn is not entirely known.
However, experts believe that gas, food allergy,
and acid reflux are definitely some of the
reasons behind this condition.
What Are The Remedies For Colic In Babies?
Your doctor may suggest you manage the situation
by trying out different breastfeeding
positions as well as different comfort measures.
However, out of the many comfort measures, you
can try out these home remedies to help treat
colic in babies. And the techniques are as
follows
4
Allow Tummy Time Gradually In Your Colic Baby
Make your little one lie on their tummy across
your stomach or lap. Your little ones position
should be such that you can face your baby.
Encourage your baby to do this exercise for 10 to
15 minutes. This undoubtedly is a perfect colic
relief technique.
Make Your Little One Sit Up After He or Shes Fed
Sitting up is a very sweet milestone that your
cuddly and chubby baby might achieve in due time.
However, after feeding your child, make him or
her sit up. Your baby might experience
gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) after you
feed her. Make the baby sit up straight to reduce
this tendency and crankiness.
5
Hold Your Colicky Baby For Long
Most of the time, colicky babies respond
positively to being held carefully and close to
your chest. All that you need to do is hold your
baby for a long period of time. So, hug him or
her, kiss her, and cuddle her to increase your
bond with him or her and make the child cry
less.  You can also alternatively buy a baby
carrier to hold your little one.
Swaddle Your Little One
Wrap your little one comfortably and warmly.
However, keep your babys legs loose, so that the
baby can move the legs freely.
6
Rock or Swing The Baby
While being in the womb, your baby floats in the
warm comfort of the amniotic fluid. Now you have
the baby in your arms, give him or her almost the
same feeling by holding him or her comfortably,
and rocking the baby for a long period of times.
You can alternatively purchase a swing to keep
the baby calm.
Pacify Your Colicky Baby
Your baby may be full, but if he or shes crying
intensely, offering your little one a pacifier is
a way out. Pacifiers can calm down your crying
baby and make him or her feel relaxed.
7
Massage Your Baby
Massaging your little one can help your babys
digestion and keep your little one relaxed. Rub
your babys arms, legs, and belly in a circular
motion with olive or coconut oil, as well as
other essential oils. You can alternatively read
books to learn the baby massaging technique.
Give Your Little One a Warm Bath
After giving your little one a gentle oil
massage, giving your baby bath in warm water can
be a natural remedy for colic in babies. Warm
water can relieve your colic pain.
8
Apply Warm Compress
Soak a towel in warm water, squeeze it dry and
rub over your colic babys tummy gently. This
provides your baby with some relief.
Try The Pedaling Exercise
Put your baby on his or her back. Hold the babys
ankles together. Take each leg of your baby and
hold them close to your babys tummy or chest for
a few seconds and repeat it. This is an
easy burping technique and one of the effective
ways to reduce colic pain in your baby.
Feed Your Baby With Probiotics
  • Researchers say that giving probiotics to your
baby suffering from colic pain can help his or
    her digestive system.
  • It may positively affect your babys immunity
  • improves the lining of the intestine
  • can definitely balance the bacteria in your
    babys digestive system.

9
Stroll Outside The House With Your cry-cry Baby
Put your little one in a stroller or carrier and
go for a walk. You can alternatively, take your
baby out for a drive, by strapping him or her to
a car seat. Sometimes, a change in location can
improve your babys mood perfectly.
10
Focus On Your Food
If youre breastfeeding, try to avoid dairy
products. Along with this, remove gasinducing
veggies like cauliflower and cabbage. Also, keep
your caffeine-intake at bay.
Think About Yourself
Symptoms of colic in babies start when your baby
is around 6 weeks old and end after he or shes 3
or 4 months old. But we know that colic is not
easy for you to handle. It can make you feel
tired. So, take breaks at least for 10 to 15
minutes. Tune in to some of your favourite music,
and discuss the problem with your partner, family
members, and friends. But, dont forget to pay
attention to your baby, while youre listening to
music. Having said all of that, try not to give
colic medicine, without consulting your childs
specialist. Moreover, you need to discuss this
with your babys paediatrician before making any
changes to your babys diet. Also, dont forget
to log in to our blog page, for anything related
to baby care.
