LUNCH PERIODS
Question Does the 9 hour flex schedule include
the 30 minute lunch break? If you dont take a
lunch break can you leave early? If you work
through lunch break, what happens? Answer Per
MCO 12630.2, lunch breaks are 30 minutes long,
unless your work schedule has been extended to
allow for a longer lunch period. If you have
voluntarily worked through your lunch period, you
are not entitled to leave early.

GRANTING 59 MINUTES
Question Is there anything that can be done
about days when 59 minutes are granted? Most
times employees are told too late that 59 minutes
will be granted and cannot take advantage of it.
Perhaps those who cannot use the 59 minutes on
the day it is granted can come in late or leave
early on a future date. Answer Per MCO
12630.2, supervisors are authorized to excuse
absences of less than 1 hour for good cause. An
employee who is not able to take advantage of the
59 minutes on the day it is given is not
authorized to take the 59 minutes on a different
day. Supervisors are encouraged to let employees
know as early as possible when 59 minutes will be
granted.

POSITION VALUES
  • Question What is a position value and how
    could it impact my pay?
  • Answer Per DON Interim Compensation
Guidance and HQMC policy, the position value is
the top of the salary range. Position values are
used in setting pay upon being hired, reassigned,
or promoted and when making decisions on
performance based salary increases. You should
consult with your supervisor if you have
    questions concerning your positions position
    value.
