As a matter of public health policy, ASTHO,
NACCHO, CDC, and HRSA endorse the use of CDC and
HRSA categorical health grant funds to support
the development of integrated health information
systems. Such integration will benefit
categorical health programs and also address
cross-cutting public health information needs.
5National Health Information Infrastructure (NHII)
- NHII is the set of technologies, standards,
applications, systems, values, and laws that
support all facets of individual health, health
care, and public health. The broad goal of the
NHII is to deliver information to
individualsconsumers, patients, and
professionswhen and where they need it so they
can use this information to make informed
decisions about health and health care.
