Context

• ISO certification in Cartography in 1998
• Diagram of the overall process in 2000
• Then ISO certification was extended to the rest
  of Publishing Services (Digital Design and
  Editorial) in 2002
• PPI system
• Reproduces the overall process

Why such a system? AVOID DUPLICATION

• To avoid duplication of efforts (reuse
  information)
• All forms used throughout the process are
  partially prefilled with tombstone information
  once the permission-to-publish has been
  initiated.
• Map production will be linked to PPI for
  automatic insertion of title, authorship, scale,
  etc.
• At the end of the process, some of GSCs
  bibliographic database fields (GEOSCAN) come from
  PPI.
• etc.
