Objective

• To present the major findings of the review
• Identify common gaps and the constraints in
  fulfilling the requirements of producing
  standard metadata
• Recommend actions on how the country reports on
  agricultural statistical systems to contain high
  quality metadata

Methodology

• Use of the Annotated Outline as the basis
  of the review item by item
• Has the report appropriately and adequately
  responded to questions or instructions?
• Has the report followed the sequence of the
  Outline?

Findings

• General comments
• There are missing information in the reports
  required in the Outline
• On the guideline for Section 2.2.2 on coverage
  and availability (p.15 of paper), the reference
  period requested in the outline is not clear.

Common findings Chapter 1

• No clear discussion on roles and administrative
  relationships among organizations
• Different interpretations of terms on outputs and
  dissemination particularly on medium and format
• A number of reports did not present strategic plan

• discussion on the domains were not according to
  the Outline

  were not focused and quite disorganized

Recommendations

• The contents for medium and format should be
  modified as follows

Recommendations

• Do not include data, figures or tables in the
  country report.
• Indicate if your country disseminates data
  through RDES. Include as one of the outputs of
  dissemination of agricultural statistics.
• Describe Chapter 2 by domain and include the
  table in the annex.

Concluding notes

• Adopt the Outline of FAO
• Good quality metadata can be used as a tool for
  improving the agricultural statistics system
• Bangladesh, Lao PDR, Iran and Myanmar commit to
  improve the country report according to the
  recommendations of the group
