What is Flash?

• Flash uses vector graphics and more recently a
  scripting language similar to Javascript called
  Action script to render dynamic content on
  websites.
• Flash is commonly used to create animation,
  advertisements, various web-page components, to
  integrate video into web pages, and more
  recently, to develop rich Internet applications
  and gaming.

What is Flash?

• Since its intro in 1996, Flash technology has
  become a popular method for adding animation and
  interactivity to web pages.
• Macromedia, who was purchased by Adobe systems in
  2005 reports that by January 2002 more than 400
  million browsers were able to view Shockwave
  flash movies. That is about 98 of all browsers
  on the web.

• There are limits to what can be

• - Animated GIFs
• - Java applets
• - Javascript

Flash Vs. GIFs

• - Can be used in some animation, but does not
  support interactivity
• - Limited to a 256 color palette
• - Flash loads much faster in a browser than would
  a GIF of equal quality.

Flash Vs. Java Applets and Javascript

• - Flash movies are more stable in web browsers
  than Java applets
• - It is fairly easy to create custom animations
  in flash without any programming skills
