8How Do you Decide on a Concentration?
- Attend Club Meetings Events to listen to and
talk with potential employers - CPAC (meets Tues at 11 in Rm 03-111)
- Talk to faculty members
- Talk to Jane in Career Services and visit their
library
9Proposed CPA Certification Requirements
- 120 Hour Option
- Bachelors degree with 36 qtr hours of accounting
- 2 years of general experience (plus a 500 hr
attest option) - Pass any 2 exam parts to get conditional credit
- 150 hour Option
- 150 (225 qtr) units with 36 qtr hours of
accounting - 1 year of general experience (plus a 500 hr
attest option) - Take all 4 parts of exam within 30 days, get at
least 50 on all 4 parts and pass 2 parts to get
conditional credit
10Why might I want to meet the 150 hr. requirement?
- You would have substantial equivalency and
therefore be licensed to practice across state
lines - If you moved out of Calif. you would meet the
requirements of the 47 jurisdictions that require
150 hours for certification
11How can I meet the 150 hour requirement if I
choose to do so?
- No masters degree is required so you can meet the
150 (225 qtr units) with a dual concentration,
extra units from a Community College, or in any
other manner you desire - Alternatively you could choose to pursue a
masters degree at another university after you
graduate from Cal Poly.
