• He (Jesus) is the image of the invisible God, the
  firstborn over all creation. For by him all
  things were created things in heaven and on
  earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or
  powers or rulers or authorities all things were
  created by him and for him. He is before all
  things, and in him all things hold together. And
  he is the head of the body, the church he is the
  beginning and the firstborn from among the dead,
  so that in everything he might have the
  supremacy. (Col. 115-18)

Church Purpose "'Love the Lord your God with all
your heart and with all your soul and with all
your mind.' This is the first and greatest
commandment. And the second is like it 'Love
your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the
Prophets hang on these two commandments." (Matt.
2237-40)

Body Life The body is a unit, though it is made
up of many parts and though all its parts are
many, they form one body. So it is with Christ.
(1 Cor. 1212)

Great Commission All authority in heaven and on
earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make
disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the
name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy
Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I
have commanded you. And surely I am with you
always, to the very end of the age. (Matt. 28

Be an Example

• Be shepherds of God's flock that is under your
  care, serving as overseers--not because you must,
  but because you are willing, as God wants you to
  be not greedy for money, but eager to serve not
  lording it over those entrusted to you, but being
  examples to the flock. (1 Pet.
  52-3)

Be a Guide

• Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your
  brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank
  in your own eye? How can you say to your brother,
  'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all
  the time there is a plank in your own eye? You
  hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own
  eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the
  speck from your brother's eye. (Matt. 73-5)

Be a Servant

• The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to
  serve." (Matt. 2028)

Assessment

• You are not God so you must "in all your ways
  acknowledge Him" (Prov. 35-6). Assessment apart
  from God is an act of futility for "there is a
  way that seems right to a man, but in the end it
  leads to death (destruction)" (Prov. 1625)

Communication

• -- Trusting in God brings good direction and
  success. (Prov. 35-6 1412)
• -- Depending on God brings renewal and the
  ability to soar. (Isa. 4028-31 Phil. 413)

Coordination

• We will in all things grow up into him who is the
  Head, that is, Christ. . . . From him the whole
  body, joined and held together by every
  supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up
  in love, as each part does its work. (Eph.
  415-16)

Delegation

• God designed the Church to be interdependent,
  with everyone working for the greater good. God
  never intended for one person to do it all. If
  you are overworked and doing something someone
  else can do, don't let pride keep you from asking
  for help. Give others opportunity to participate

Goal-Setting Vision Casting

• Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean
  not on your own understanding in all your ways
  acknowledge him, and he will make your paths
  straight. (Prov. 35-6)

Listening

• Be still and cease striving so you can hear His
  voice in the midst of the clutter and noise
  around you.
• Be still, and know that I am God I will be
  exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in
  the earthpart does its work. (Psalms 4610)

Organization

• The Church, as a living organism, has members
  designed to function in specific ways but also a
  sense of coordination and interdependence.
• And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no
  need of thee nor again the head to the feet, I
  have no need of you. (1 Corinthians 1220)
• And whether one member suffer, all the members
  suffer with it or one member be honoured, all
  the members rejoice with it. (1 Corinthians
  1226)

Staffing

• The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.
  Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send
  out workers into his harvest field. (Matt.
  937-38)

Strategic Planning

• A simple man believes anything, but a prudent man
  gives thought to his steps. (Prov. 1415)
